I'm so sad for Lynette, and the show just won't be the same w/o Karl. I thought the episode was decent and not as bad as I thought it would be, considering it was more a flashback/flashforward episode.

It was VERY difficult to watch the dream about Lynette's special needs child. Gods, that hit close to home.

I know what you mean. DH and I were in tears watching those scenes. (Our son has cp and low functioning autism/global delays and the feelings she expressed were so true to what it has felt like at times.)

That whole Lynette scene/dream just had me crying. I had a placenta tear with my second but while he was born early, fortunately he was fine. But that set me off and by the end, I didn't think I'd make it through the law school speech! I wasn't sure, is Lynette still pregnant or did they have to deliver the other baby??

My DH was still wondering this morning how the made Susan look heavy like that. Anyone know??

The thing is, she didn't even look 'fat'. Just plump/pudgy. Only her face looked way too big.

As a mom to SN kids, that was a touching and hard episode, with the whole Lynette thing. What really creeped me out was when Tom told her that they lost one baby, with this weird grin on his face, and then said the other was fine and that it would all be fine. It seemed like he didn't think it mattered to loose one twin when they had the other, and as a mom who's also lost a child and had one misscarriage, that was just not ok. He made me sick to my stomach just then, but I might be overly touchy with that stuff.

Anywho, we know then that 3 people died, Karl, Mona and one baby. And then the pilot and his wife I'm assuming? That's 5. Didn't someone say 5 would die?

And yeah, Susan's face looked way too big for the rest of her, that whole thing was just weird.

the scene with lynette and her SN son was very touching, made me tear up. i don't think tom was unrealistic in his response to lynette, some men just don't really get it - i could see my dh reacting in that way.

The Lynette scenario in the kitchen was just beyond words. I don't think I've ever been that affected by any scene in any TV show ever. Bravo, ABC. She/the writers deserve an Emmy for that scene. It felt so real.

Yeah, the Susan fat thing was really weird. I agree. Face way too big for body. Not only that, but if she'd been wearing normal clothes, she wouldn't just looked a little curvy (minus the ridiculous face) but I guess they had her scantily clad for the effect.

While the scene with Tom telling Lynette bugged me some, I think it came from a place of him knowing he was shocking her and trying to help that out - badly, like guys can do at times - try and fix something they can't fix. No offense to guy, but I know from having lost two babies - 1 m/c and 1 stillbirth - and my dh's reactions, particularly to the m/c.

I was thinking that the actress who plays Lynette really needs to be recognized for her work on DH. That scene in the kitchen was incredible.

I am so bummed that Karl is gone!! He was hysterical (and so cute!!)!

I wonder what is going to happen to Bree now that Orsen is paralized. I foresee her taking good care of him out of guilt, him getting better but not telling her to keep them together and her finding out at some point and leaving him.

I also thought the "what if" scene were pretty good, despite Susan not looking quite right.

That's what I thought too. He was trying to see something positive.

I still don't understand though, where is the surviving baby? Is she still pregnant?

I agree that Felicity Huffman is one of the best actresses on that show. I don't think that any of the other actresses could have done those scenes.

I guess with Susan, they couldn't have made her too huge, because she is so tiny. So do you think she had a ton of makeup on to make her face look heavy?

Yeah, she was pregnant with twins. One died, the other is fine.


And my dear has always been so supportive and also very sad with our losses, so I don't really see it from the "men don't get it" side. It's just not true for me and the men I know. Even my guy friends have been very kind, supportive and understanding with our losses.

Not to overanalyze a TV show, but Tom was probably in shock himself, convincing himself that his wife was OK and one baby was OK, so they will get through any pain that comes their way from losing the one baby.

I too wonder what exactly happened. Did they take out the one baby and leave the other one there? Did they leave them both? I'm under the impression that she is still pregnant. Again, I'm overanalyzing, but it's something I wonder.

A very powerful episode, I think.

That's what I'm wondering too. Not that a TV show follows a strict calendar, but she wasn't that far along right? It seems like what, 4 months or something? I can't believe she was far enough along that they could have delivered the other baby safely.

Have to wait for the next episode I guess!

I was thinking she was 5 or 6 months ... not sure, though.
