Hi everyone,
I'm finally sitting down to catch up on the DDC and the mountain of email that has piled up over the past few days. Our second son, Adrian Chesley Miller, arrived in a very impatient manner on Wednesday night, September 23.
After no real signs of approaching labor, other than a bit of intuition the day before (thank god for intuition - because we went ahead and filled the birth pool and got everything set up just in case), I went from irregular contractions about every 30-40 minutes, to regular strong contractions every 12 minutes on Wednesday afternoon. That was around 5:00. By 8:00 I was on my knees with contractions every 7 minutes. Our midwife arrived to find me at 5 cm and paper thin. So I got in the tub and there I stayed. Adrian was born about two hours later. It was fast and furious, but absolutely beautiful. I have never felt such elation before. I was able to lean back on my DH's chest and catch the baby myself. I never imagined having such a powerful experience. Total vindication for the disappointments of my previous induced hospital birth. I felt like an Amazon.
We're all doing really well. Adrian is a champ nurser and his big brother Nate is already quite attached. Now if I could just get my in-laws out of the house everything would be perfect.
Thanks to all of you mama's out there in the September DDC. I've so enjoyed knowing you over the past months and sharing in your questions, concerns and joys. This is a very special place full of incredible women.
Peace,
Erin
