hose for filling tub

Can I just buy a new garden hose to fill my birth tub or does it have to be a certian type of hose that is safe for drinking? Like from the RV section or something? My midwife told me just garden hose as long as it's clean but I thought I had read that I had to have certain hose?

I think there is a sticky that has links for the right kind of hose. Do not use a regular garden hose, they are full of toxins (BPA, phalates, lead, etc.). Aquarium hoses are recommended, although I have heard of folks using RV hoses. I have a friend who bough a supposedly drinking water safe hose, white in color, that was for marine use, and the water that came out of it smelled like plastic. Ick!

I bought a clear food-grade hose and a couple of those garden hose repair ends to put on it. It worked really well. I found that beer-making supply stores sell food-grade hose for a decent price - unfortunately, shipping to Canada was way to expensive so I got mine elsewhere.

At first I bought the cheapest hose home depot had. Then I got home and saw a tag on it specifically saying there's lead in it!! Ew. There was a sporting goods store that had a going out of business sale so I got an rv drinking water hose for cheap.

You can use regular garden hose. You're not going to be drinking it. It's not "oozing" lead.

I got a white RV/drinking quality hose from Walmart for $10 (25 feet)- there was a thread on here that tipped me off about where to get it.
