Dry Nipples - Any moisturizing tips?

I am due to have my second baby girl Nov 11th and have had dry nips (hence I suffer from naturally dry skin) and worried this is going to affect my breastfeeding of my second baby girl. I nursed my first girl for 15 months and did experience problems with nip issues including Thrush. We overcomed it but I experienced pain (mild, tolerable) up until weaning her. However, I wonder if my dry nips I already have now will affect. Does anyone suggest any type of cream to even apply moisture to them now? I am not in favor of any lanolin creams as this feeds on thrush and I don't want to encourage that in any way. I look forward to hearing any home remedies if suggested. THANKS!

Olive oil?

I'm having eczema on my nipples right now (praying that it goes away after delivery) so I'm interested in other ideas.

Have you used Olive Oil? Does it seem to help? What is the difference between using this and baby oil?

HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Olive oil = edible and all natural
Baby oil = non-edible and toxic (both ingested and applied externally)

My MIL (Mediterranean) uses olive oil for EVERYTHING from dandruff to dry skin, so I figure it's worth a try!

ETA: I haven't used it, but I'd be willing to use that before more medicalized treatments. (I'm not nursing right now and using a steroid cream for my eczema.)

calendula

Calendula is supposed to be a natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial. Motherlove brand nipple ointment has calendula, I think it also has olive oil.
