Prunes or Fiber Bars?

Which is best? I have some "issues" with not being very regular normally and Im concerned about the first poop after birth for me. Which is best to make it easier, Prunes or Fiber bars? I have never ate prunes before but I do know I hate the juice, lol. Fiber bars are much easier for me to get down but I wasnt sure if it would be enough?

I don't know about prunes or fiber bars (never tried either) BUT constipation was a big issue for me when I was pregnant with my son. Hasn't been so bad this time and what has helped for me is drinking a lot of water, eating a lot of fruits (like pears and apples) and veggies, and eating high fiber cereals and I add raisins to some things. Also, I make a lot of homemade food and I use mostly whole wheat... and avoid stuff with regular flour... if I eat pasta, it's usually whole wheat pasta. Plus, walking and rest seem to help, too.

Also, when I was pregnant with my son, my midwife told me to take magnesium. I didn't want to take it so I looked for foods and such high in magnesium.

With all the water I try to drink... now I have the opposite problem occasionally.

Larabars help me.

Prunes are more natural (especially the organic or non-sorbate prunes) so I would go with those if I were you. Have you tried cooking them with some fresh fruit and a little water, such as apples and pears?
Magnesium will definitely do it if you take enough. Start low though, because too much and you will have the opposite problem big time!

Prunes are a miracle food as far as I'm concerned. After my first birth I had a lot of trouble with that and ended up with an anal fissure. Waaaay more painful than childbirth. I thought I was going to pass out when I'd go to the bathroom. I took tons of stool softeners and tried all the other tricks but nothing worked. But I started eating prunes and it got better right away. One a day is enough for me. I love the taste, so it is no problem for me. Have you tried thinking of them as dried plums?

I would definitely say getting your fiber from fruits and vegetables is better than getting it from grain. Also, grain fiber is pretty rough, which is not so good on sensitive tissue. I think there's a lot to be said for dandelion tea, which has been helping me a lot.

I think Ill pick up some of those sun sweet one's and try those. Im honestly more scared of the first poo after labor then actual labor! Lol. Sad I know!

I've heard that all the "P" fruits help w/ constipation, like pears, plums, 'pricots, peaches, etc.
