You know, I have been doing this such a long time. And, I guess I have really been out of the loop for diapers with this last baby, because I have found a whole new set of ideas for diaper covers. 10 yrs ago, I thought the covers with the velcro were the "Bomb". Then, I discovered fleece about 6 yrs ago. So, then I discovered snaps instead of velcro. I had seen wool soakers, but they didn't appeal to me, because I think it would be itchy or too hot. And, then lanolizing, I have no idea how to do that.
So, after I cut a BUNCH of fleece covers, to do after I get this HUGE stash of diapers done, I found wool longies that look like regular pants. SOOO cute. Then, I found fleece longies, shorties, and my recent find? SKIRTIES!! And, we are having a girl this time. Talk about having TOO many choices. I thought the diapers were complicated with all the choices, although I like complicated. Now, I have to decide if I want to alter my covers to make some of them into shorties. Or make some skirties for my little girl. Of course, this is a winter baby, so skirties would have to be 6mo+. Or I may just have to buy all new fabric. LOL Oh, and then the velvet that they use on pocket dipes to wick moisture away.
My other idea was with my bed wetters. I have a 10yo that still does on occasion, and a 5.5yo. So, I have made and used cloth pull ups before, although I haven't started any cutting on those yet. Then, I was thinking how much easier it would be to buy sweat pants, and add some PUL where I need it, and cover that with either that cheap velvet stuff I have seen on pocket dipes, or just another layer of minifleece just so they don't have any plastic touching skin.
Anyone else use sweat pants and just add the extra layers where needed? How does that work for you? I could cut them down to shorts, and then use the leg fabric for that extra layer. Since it is coming winter, I thought the pants would be great. Kymberli
