I have lots of novelty yarn - fun fur and some acrylic yarns - not much expensive ones, but lots of cheap stuff. I crochet faster than knitting. What are some simple cute patterns that would make quick easy gifts out of it? Thanks!

I don't know about knitting, but to crochet with novelty yarn, I would stick to something flat: scarves, shawls, etc. I find it really difficult to see my stitches around the fur and baubley bits. If you're going to crochet, use a nice big hook and possibly combine the novelty yarn with a second strand of plain cotton/wool/acrylic.
Knitting might be easier, stitchwise (since all the stitches stay on the hook). Furry socks might be fun.
If you're on Ravelry, you can search patterns by yarns that people have used.

Also in the craft/yarn sections at stores like Wal-Mart, Michaels, Jo-Ann's they have free pattern sheets you can collect. I've got quite a stash
