Hepatitis B Vaccine Ingredients - is “The Vaccine Book” still up-to-date?

As stated in Dr. Sears‘ book, the only difference between the ingredients in the two brands of hepatitis B vaccines is that Recombivax HB contains formaldehyde, while Engerix-B does not.

As the book was published nearly two years ago, I am just checking that this is still the case.

I just looked up the ingredients for both vaccines on the CDC’s website: http://lb.redirectingat.com/?id=848X...nt-table-2.pdf

As of April 2009, these are the listed ingredients for each:

Recombivax HB:
Aluminum Hydroxyphosphate Sulfate, Amino Acids, Dextrose, Formaldehyde or Formalin, Mineral Salts, Potassium Aluminum Sulfate, Soy Peptone, Yeast Protein

Engerix-B:
Aluminum Hydroxide, Phosphate Buffers, Thimerosal*, Yeast Protein

*Where “thimerosal” is marked with an asterisk (*) it indicates that the product should be considered equivalent to thimerosal-free products. This vaccine may contain trace amounts (<0.3 mcg) of mercury left after post-production thimerosal removal, but these amounts have no biological effect.

Why does this differ from what Dr. Sears says? Dr. Sears makes no mention of Thimerosal in the Engerix-B vax; in fact, he specifically says in his book and on his website that the Engerix-B vax hasn’t contained mercury since 2006.

I’m so confused! I just want to know which vax is better.

the thimerosal-free version was licenced in 2007, which makes 2006 the final production year for the thimerosal version. the vax has a 3-year shelf-life, so the thimerosal version will still be around for at least a few more months.

Sorry I don't buy that BS for a hot minute!! there are 1000 nanograms in 1mcg so if trace amount is .3mcg than there is 300 nanograms in this vax. Using a Avagadro"s number calculation (using a conversion factor of 20 drops per milliliter) than just one nanogram gives 150 billion atoms of mercury per drop of blood circulating though the brain of a child. So take that and multiply by 300 nanograms 150billion x 300 and that is how many atoms of mercury per drop of blood will be circulating around and that has no biological effect?? WHATEVER! here is a video of how exposure to low levels of mercury kills brain neurons http://www.mwsi.com/about/mercuryvideo.htm
