Savory Steel cut oats?

So i make steel cut oats all the time in my crockpot with apple cider and trail mix thrown in...and i was thinking of making savory version to go with some lamb i have...but i was wondering, first if anyone has done this before and second what broth would be the best? i dont have any lamb broth, or i would use that...

I use our leftover SC oats to make savory dishes. I treat it how I would treat cooked rice... wet with a little broth, add chopped veggies and some herbs and warm or fry in a skillet. Since we lacto-ferment our oats, I've never made a savory version that didn't use leftover oats, but you could probably cook them in the broth from their dried state as well.
