Return of Menstruation?

My baby is almost 9 months old and in the last month or so we have been giving her formula and in the last week or so I have cut back on the number of times that I am pumping. She is low weight, has health issues, and I don't really want to get into the whole formula thing because that is still bothering me.

My question is, how did you feel when your periods returned? Right now, I am having a LOT of cramping, going to the bathroom a lot, and generally feel sick. I feel a lot of pressure too. I called my PCP because I think my uterus might be prolapsing. I feel like I am in labor, but know I'm not because I've taken pregnancy tests that have been negative.

Could I just be getting ready to start AF???

My periods came back wen my son was 9 months and I was still nursing full time and nursing about once a night. (He'd go 6-8 hours at night.) It felt to me like I was pregnant. I said to my DH that I was pg more than once. I can't tell you how many pg tests I took. But, it felt like that for about 2 or 3 months before my periods actually came back. Then they slowly settled into a normal rhythm.
