Advantage vs. Frontline and other flea issues

Hello all! I have 6 cats and the littlest one brought in some fleas when we rescued her. We have a very unpleasant infestation and while Itry to go natural in most things, I think i need to bring out some big guns. I bought some Frontline off of Ebay [one of those kit things] and it worked for about a week and a half but now i am seeing fleas on them again. Also i have been fogging the house [i really had to think long and hard before doing that... but the problem is beyond some vacumming and diotomaceous earth] and it seems to not be working. i have been using raid spray and some hot shot foggers. they seem to be immune!

i really hate all the chemicals but i am at my wits end. please let me know what has worked for you, esp. your ideas on advantage vs frontline. ticks aren't an issue.

Here is a chart that will give you some idea of your options. I use Revolution with great results in my own cats, but most of my clients like Frontline. This is our general flea control client education handout, you probably know everything on it already.

One small caution about Frontline, the parasitologists suspect that one of the reasons that the medication purchased from PedMeds/Ebay/Cosco isn't working is that there are not temp controls during shipping. Much of the medication enters the market off big shipping boats from Asia. What they sell your vet comes from the US, and will have had some shipping controls, or at the least won't have been sitting out on a container ship in the ocean for two months cooking. Or at least that is one of the theories... it could just be a bunch of BS.

I'm with you on the diatomaecous earth, its one of those natural remedies I really want to work, but it just doesn't. On top of not working, its a respiratory hazard for both humans and creatures. I am doing some relief work for a vet on the other side of the county, and had a midnight call to go in for a dog that was in respiratory distress due to the DM.

Best of luck!

(I'm not your vet, and this isn't medical advice)
