growth spurts

I am exhausted, Tor is even chubbier... or he will be once all this milk does it's job.

I'd forgotten just how relentless a babe in a growth spurt is... Tor nursed every 45 minutes or so round the clock, and then every 1-2 hours for another 24. Today he is mostly sleeping in the Moby. I know the average spurt is 2-3 days so maybe we're over the hump!

I hope so, because I am about to fall over and I am much too trigger happy with the older girls. Their normal "molehill misbehavior" is turning into "mountain madness" in my mind and i'm over-reacting. Which makes them overreact too.

Anyone esle playing the growth spurt game?

Oh yeah. So much so that I don't even have it in me to type much. Dominic will be 4 weeks old on Thursday and I'm starting to notice tell tale little pudge rolls on his knees and upper arms so that's got to be it. My. boobs. HURT.

Doing it all. Constant nursing, sore, losing it w/ my other poor kiddos. My house looks like a tornado came through here which is especially hard on my neurotic self.

I think my baby went through a growth spurt since he took a 6 hour nap 2 days in a row. whoa did my boobs get full.

Yep, my little one just keeps growing and she's looking gigantic these days! Some days she nurses around the clock and other days it seems like she sleeps forever. She's gained 3.5 lbs in 6 weeks!

I don't think I can handle a growth spurt as he already gained a pound a week for the first 5 weeks of his life (from 8.5lbs to 13.5 lbs)!

But he has been nursing constantly- which of course encourages my oversupply- so now I am back to crazy engorged leakage. And then I have been starving! Yes, I think we are in the midst of the 6 week spurt.

I think that's what is happening here. We're in week 3-4 and the past day and a half he's been nursing a lot more frequently. Not really longer in duration, but more times a day. And he's been more fussy/harder to settle. It's kind of hard for me to say what's going on - I've never done this before.

I refuse to clock the length of nursings or the frequency of wakings and nursings... it is all constant and she does not like to be put down much at all. If I knew it would make me crazy

today it feels like growth spurt material... 5 wks tomorrow

I didn't write down a single diaper at the hospital or at home either... couldn't tell ya except it was all fine

I think that the "sleep chart" in the NCSS is just about the worst idea ever (I love NCSS, but only tried charting once)... though in a sort of sick way, knowing just how "bad' it is makes the normal sleep deprivation feel like a vacation!

Tor slept most of the day yesterday so I think this spurt is behind us. But he's developed a really annoying habit of waking/fussing/refusing to be soothed at 5am and then falling asleep again at 7am, which is when the girls get out of bed. I'm wrecked!

ETA- well, he was 14lbs when the spurt started, he's 15lbs now.

For the past two nights, Marcus (7w3d) has been up every hour at night. Yup, every hour. We nurse everytime because I have no other strategy to get him back to sleep. He was sleeping for a good 4-5 hour stretch first thing at night and I was loving it. He doesn't even sleep that much more during the day. I'm hoping that two nights of this is all we have to do. I went back to work on Monday (with him in tow) and not sleeping and working is not the best combo. Isn't this a little late for the 6 week growth spurt?

We're working on an 8 week growth spurt here. It just seems like it must be painful to grow this much over such a short period of time! My guy is HUGE!

Yeah... dh gave ds a bit of tylenol at one point when the babe just wouldn't stop crying because he figured it must be uncomfy to grow so quickly! DS did settle and sleep after that so it may have helped. I'm not a fan of meds, but I'm also not a fan of ouchie babes.

I'm with you. My babe just had one plus she was really fussy last night because she has tight muscle issues which is, as it turned out, what was causing our nursing issues. She's been getting Bowen therapy which helps a lot. But last night was the night before her appointment and she was tight and in pain and fuuuuuusy and up all night wanting comfort and fuss fuss fussing. I am sooooo tired. I even got desperate and drank some cofee this morning. I still fell asleep an hour later! And woke up tired.
