Latex allergies and vaccinations

Both my husband and I have latex allergies. Mine has developed to the point of anaphalaxis, his is more contact-based, but still severe.

We are expecting our first (yay!)

When I was a child, vaccines were a nightmare. I was not "severely" allergic at the time, but I would swell, break out in hives, and spike a 103-105 fever after every vaccination. They were always exceptionally painful, with golfball-sized bumps at the injection site, and they took weeks to heal. The connection between the latex allergy and my reaction didn't occur to my doctors until I was 13.

I believe it is likely that our child will also suffer from a latex allergy. In my state, any attempt to vaccinate in any way that deviates from the standard is seen as almost criminal. I am disinclined to believe that all of the recommended vaccinations are necessary, especially given that most contain latex in some form. I am not opposed to all vaccinations, but I want to be very, very sure that every vaccine is truly necessary.

How do you find a pediatrician who is open to a thinking parent?

Where can I find information on latex allergies and immunization?

Thank you!!

Post in your tribes area with a request. Talk to chiropractors in your area...they often don't vaccinate their own children . This is how I found our ped (no vaxes here).

Given your history and sever allergies I would say who cares what people think regardless of where you live and the societal norms in your area. Persoanlly I don't think any vaccines are necessary, but if you feel the need to do some make sure you have researched throughly and don't let anyone try and talk you into something you are not comfortable with.
