Don't want to spend $$ on Halloween costumes,

But I really am not a very creative person. DD (age 4) wants to be a green dinosaur. She has been telling us this for months. Any ideas how I can do this without spending money? Are there any places out there to get very cheap costumes? I have no idea how to go about this. I hope this is the best forum for posting this. Please let me know if another forum is better, thanks!

check out your local kids' clothes consignment store - found lots at ours for 10 or less. Also, there's a ton of dinosaur costumes on ebay.

how about a green hoodie and pants and glue green triangles onto the hood/back/etc for a dinosaur look.

I'm very crafty, but after seeing what people sell them for on ebay & craigslist, it's cheaper to buy used. I even got one here off the trading post for like $10. It was a really nice lion, nicer than the ones they sell in the costume shop for $50.

I tried a super sweet dinosaur on DS at a consignment shop, but he's pretty tall & it didn't fit. It was $10.

Last year he was a cow. I got one off of ebay for $2.99. I checked out the other sales she had listed, bought a sweatshirt, and got them both and shipped for $10. (funny aside, I have a picture of him nursing in his costume (I was a farmer) and our friend made a joke that he was "milk fed veal" )

Look on craigslist. You can probably find one super cheap. $10 or less. Even if you do the sweatsuit thing, you still need to get the suit, the glue, and the felt. Then there's the time. It'll end up being more than $10.

Anyone to borrow a costume from?

I think the simplest way to make a dino costume (if you can't find something workable otherwise) would be to do a green cape - sew or fuse polka dots and/or spikes along the back (out of cheap craft felt), wear green pants and shirt under, and maybe some green gloves with tiny claw triangles glued to the fingers.
