Painless BH contractions???? - Page 2

Heh. My secret? A crappy childhood. No really! I was always picked on by the neighborhood kids. I learned early on that if I pretended what they were doing didn't hurt me, then they'd grow tired of doing it and leave me alone. I ended up building a tolerance to certain types of pain, especially when others expected me to be in pain. I didn't want to give them that satisfaction. Make sense?

By the time I was in high school, I had a sort of odd reputation. I was the girl that everyone could slap and kick and punch, and I wouldn't flinch. I was the Queen of Mercy and the slap game. I didn't care how much pain they tried to give me.. I was NOT going to let them see me in pain. The more I faked numbness, the easier it was to really feel nothing.

Well, I didn't have a clue it would work the same way for me in labor until my first baby was born. Everyone expects you to be in pain. Everyone is gauging everything on IF YOU ARE IN PAIN. And I automatically blocked it all. Instead of tightening and wanting to cry and tense up, whenever I feel a contraction.. I go with it. I open myself up when it starts to hurt. The more I release my body and truly make my mind feel as though it doesn't care.. the less it hurts.

Its probably a lot like meditation. Its a very Zen feeling. I tend to space off a bit, stare at one spot on the wall.. and just BE. I don't yell or scream or talk much. I'm just in the moment, and flowing with the contractions.

So, not really much of a secret at all. And something I fell into totally by accident! Now if only I could tell when I was going into labor, I'd be all set. They seem to sneak up on me and then all heck breaks loose in my house as we scramble to get to the hospital. LOL

Mine are usually painless. They only seem to hurt when my belly is doing its impression of a rock at the same time that the little guy decides to stretch -- I am guessing that it hurts then because he's pressing against a hard uterus instead of a stretchy one.
Yesterday I was feeling funny, my lower back was aching, and I started getting a lot of BH... and it freaked me out! I packed my hospital bag. Today, I feel better. This is good because I'm not ready for this baby yet!
