What's your budget for Fall clothes for your LO?

I just went to a local consignment shop and spent $80 on 10 shirts and 6 pairs of pants for DS who is 3.5. I would like to return to get him more pants and maybe a couple of more shirts. I LOVE consignment stores for him because I always seem to find great clothes for cheap and since they play outside at his pre-school every single day, no point in buying brand new nice stuff for him to ruin.
He also has two pairs of shoes - one navy, one black - now he needs a pair of brown ones. He can still wear his coat from last year, which is great, but will need a new hat, possible snow suit, etc.,

So, what is your budget for Fall/Winter clothes this year?

I spent $50 for my 3 but mostly I had to buy for the oldest as he is a boy and older so he doesn't hardly get handmedowns or clothes as gifts. Well, I think he got 2 shirts and a pair of pants. I just bought a few things for the babe and a few things for Lily. I shopped yardsales though which were super, duper cheap.

I don't spend money on clothes. I get everything from freecycle or gifts from family. I do spend money on shoes and winter boots. I will generally watch the clearance rack for sneakers and buy the winter boots off-season. I almost always spend about $20 or $25 on shoes. I also buy him good jackets. DS1 is 3 and DS2 is 1, so I can justify spending a bit more on it because I know DS2 will also wear it. I think I spent $35 on a good LL Bean winter coat this year. Then, if I notice that DS is really missing something from his wardrobe I will go shopping at the local thrift stores where jeans and shirts are generally about $1 or $2 each.

So, all of that to say that I generally spend about $100 a year on DS's clothes. All of that going to 3 pairs of shoes (sandals, winter boots and sneakers) and then a good jacket.

Maybe $30 at most including shoes & coats?

Everything comes from the thrift shop, and I shop on $1 day in advance to get what we need.

The only thing DD age 3yo still needs for this winter is a coat and as of yet I haven't found one in her size. She has a light weight one to start with, but needs a heavier one as we walk a lot to stores.

We do a lot of consignment shops. Lucky for us DS still can fit a bunch of his clothes from last year. He got taller, but his waist is still so tiny he needs a belt for his 2Ts at almost 3 yo.

So far, I guess we've spent around $60-$80 for a few more shirts (target on sale for $3 each), a pair of rain boots ($18 at toys r us), a fleece lined fall jacket (at osh kosh outlet for $25), some carter's jammies ($30 for 3 pairs), and the consignment stuff (2 bags at the fill a bag for $10 sale for him & me & baby to be). We just got back from Grandma's in DE the home of taxfree outlet shopping, so we got some new shoes. She bought those, though.

Short of a new snowsuit (if he has a growth spurt, right now last year's fits) and maybe a few more pairs of jammies, we probably won't need anything else this winter. Well, a holiday outfit.

around 200 for three girls at garage sales and resale...this includes the store credit i earn by selling stuff to the resale and then using the credit to find current things.

I already got dd a fall/winter coat, that was $35 through the awesome LL Bean deal thread a while back. I got it a little big so she can wear it a couple years. I found 3 pairs of jeans at SA for $6, I would like to get her 3 more pairs of pants, 6-7 long sleeve tops, a pair of boots and a hat and gloves. I'm estimating all that at $40-50. Our Nov baby will need a sleep sack, hat and mittens, booties and a sweater or jacket. I hope to get all that for $30. Luckily we saved a lot of dd1's clothes for her so she doesn't need much.

It won't be much this year. I scored winter coats and snow pants off the clearance rack last year. They will need boots. I also got lots of clothes for my older DD at the end of season last year. My younger DD does need some stuff but I have loads of fabric and should be able to make everything.

We budget $300 for clothing in the fall and $300 for clothing in the spring. A good chunk of that goes to clothing for DD1, DD2 gets hand-me- downs from her sister and her cousins. I shop Gymbo online, when I have a discount code, landsend, when I have a code and sale etc. I also shop at goodwill, and consignments. I never say no to hand me downs.

So $600 total for both kids
includes shoes, coats, boots etc.

this year about $500. This includes everything related to DS, who is 2 1/2. This also includes some very fancy gymboree outfits so he can have his very first professional photos done for our xmas cards.

It wont include the uggs he will get from santa claus. Obsessed with them he is.

Yes, he is very cute and very well dressed.

Too much. I also am loving gymboree right now, and even though I get pretty good deals there it adds up b/c I'm a bit addicted (that and I have 4 kids to clothe). Since I have 3 boys -two years apart- I can justify the cost a bit b/c good clothes will hold up to be passed down.

You purchased 16 items for $80 that works to $5 per item. I can get things cheaper at target on the clearance rack for new.... Toddler clothes at target generally run about ($2-3) for Genuine kids which is their version of osk kosh on clearance. Since I also have a Target credit card I am forever getting coupons that are $5 off $30 of kids clothes. I love those and can really clean up the clearance rack.
I dont keep a budget, i keep a price point for things...and since we live in AZ we really dont need seperate clothes for 'winter'... the same clothes work for most of the year...

I've got a 6yo DS and a 3yo DD. We are blessed to receive bags and bags of hand-me-down clothing including jackets, shoes, everything from friends with older children. The only fall clothing we purchased was a pair of new sneakers and three pairs of new pants for my son (total<$100). We almost never buy new clothing for the kids. The grandparents do once in awhile tho.

My baby bear is 3 but she won't stop growing! She wears a 5/6 now and has never worn anything for more than 1 season. She's 42 inches, 46 pounds!

I spent $90 at americanapparel.com to get her 7-8 pairs of the karate pants and several shirts. $35 on the famous LL Bean coat from the thread here in F&F (which by the way Walmart has their girls coats for $35). I spent $15 on new snowpants, $5 on snowboots on sale at Kohls at the end of the season this spring. Let's see, 2 packs of 10 socks, $11 total.

The rest of her clothes I bought at garage sales or Goodwill, ranging from 25 cents to $2.38. And I bought those last year or the year before and just starting stashing them in a plastic tub.

Shoes, I usually get from her Grandmas. We still need a pair of casual black shoes and maybe some casual brown boots to wear with dresses and such.

I still need to get mittens, slippers, and some maybe sleep pants, and then start looking into some summer clothes for next year. I spent $8 at target last week and got 6 tee-shirts that would be appropriate for daycare. I need to find some comfy shorts that will fit her and stock up on those.

Clothing is one of those categories that I would just spend and spend and spend on. There never seems to be an end. So, I budgeted $100 for fall/winter, and just stopped spending when it was done. My second son is the same season as my first, so he got like 1 new outfit, and I spend the rest of the money on my 3 year old.

I budgeted $50 for a winter snowsuit (and found a Columbia size 4/5 one for $40 wich will last him another year after), otherwise, last year when I was shopping-happy (in thrift stores, and still reasonable- $60/season?) I bought things that would fit for at least another year- winter boots, spring/fall coats, sweaters, pants, etc. So as much as I'm craving new (to us) things, I'm restraining because he really doesn't NEED anything more.

If we get through fall feeling like he might need some more long-sleeved shirts or a few extra pants, I may end up spending an additional $20.

I usually spend around $300 per child per season this includes shoes as well. I love clothes and go crazy with them! I found a place that is about 3 hours from where I live that has all brand name clothes for considerably less then what I can buy here so I go there twice a year (fall and spring)and buy all their clothes. I don't like shopping at second hand stores for clothes, it's a quirk I guess.

I normally buy off season sale rack from small boutiques or shops like Von Maur. I also have a few consignment stores I like to go to. I prefer higher quality clothes that are going to look good after 4 boys have worn then over a time period of 6 years. I have three sons and in between the 9 year old and the 5 year old the clothes get lent to a friend. I then consigne or give them away. I probably only spend $300 total a year on the boys clothes for the whole year so about $100 to $150 for autumn / winter. Shoes are not in that though. I have 2 in EW and 1 in EEW so they are usually $60 a pair for school shoes. Each child only has one pair of shoes and one pair of winter boots.

I also only shop dollar days at the thrift store, and get wonderful clothes in good condition for both my girls. I have a strong aversion personally to buying new clothes for children - they grow so fast, they don't care how they look, etc. And I feel like it's an easy way to make an earth-friendly choice, not buying newly manufactured clothing from China or whatnot. We can walk to our cool thrift store, so that's very lucky.

I'd say maybe $30-$40 for all of us every few months at the thrift store? And I do seek out hand me downs, again it seems like a good use of resources.

i don't have a specific budget...but i think that dd has most of the clothes she will need for the winter already - things that i bought at thrift stores, gifts, etc.

i did just buy her a $75 snowsuit today though...but it is cold here and her suit from last year is too short. and! it is a nice locally made extra warm fleece snowsuit.

i think that is all she will really need - so i guess $75 is my "budget" for necessities...but I'll call it $100 because I'm sure I'll see cute things here and there that I'll want to buy for her.
