Diaper Bags?

Crossposting from my DDC:

Anyone have a really good diaper bag? I'm having a harder time shopping for that than a carseat!

I'm looking for something roomy with a lot of compartments, that goes over the shoulder, structurally solid, and under $60.

I've been looking at Skip Hop and Diaper Dude but have heard mixed things. I will be checking Target for regular messenger bags too but would love some advice.

I bought a really pretty tote with some inside pockets for my stuff from www.sewgracious.com
I wanted a nontraditional diaper bag and it worked very well for us. I may purchase a new one for this baby, but honestly, the other one is in fine shape.

I have a Skip Hop, eh, I'm not that fond of it. My bag that I absolutely adore is Ju Ju Be, more then $60.00 though. I sold the diapers bags I had tried out over the years and hated to fund it.

I also don't like my Skip Hop. It's open at the top and only closes with a small piece of velcro, so inevitably everything dumps out when it tips over. I used it for about a year with dc#2 and then stopped using it because I don't like it.
I had a different messenger-style bag for dc#1, which I liked, but it wore out after awhile.
I am also in the market for a new bag. I am looking at getting a larger purse that would double as a very stylish diaper bag and then be retired as a purse when no longer needed for a diaper bag.
I am not about a cutesy diaper-bag looking bag, so I am struggling to find something right.

This is the one I put on my registry:

http://www.diapers.com/Product/Produ...roductId=19880

It's online at target too: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...t_adv_XSC10001

I haven't seen it in real life though.

I would like one that looks like a purse, but I prefer purses the have a long strap so I can be hands free. Most of the purse style diaper bags I've seen have a short handle.....so if anyone knows of purse looking diaper bag with a long strap, let me know!

I use a Timbuk2 medium tote bag. Works great for hauling around all my cloth dipes. I found mine on sale for around $60.

I'm going to be using my old LL Bean day-hike backpack (was my book bag in HS and college.) Tons of compartments and very roomy.... I can fit a weekend's worth of clothing and toiletries for myself in it. LL Bean doesn't make them anymore, but here is a very similar bag

Best of all..... more DH-friendly than a real diaper bag would ever be for my guy.

I got the smaller Skip Hop and it looks like it will do ok... but I think I would have preferred the Timbuk 2 bags... I've got 2 computer bags by them and they're absolutely wonderful!

I have 2 bags and both are petunia pickle bottom boxy backpacks. Though I dont use it as a back pack unless traveling its very spacious, very continent and uber stylish.

I like my skip hop bag. It isn't super duper wonderful, but it works fine and the price was right, and the print is fun. If I had a bigger budget I'd buy one of the jujube bags, but they're at least twice the price of a skip hop.

Moved to Diapering.

i looked at some jujube diapers bags at the mall and ended up getting a cheaper type (dont even remember the brand). im mad i didnt just save up my money till i could afford a jujube. they were so cute! the one i got has a super uncomfortable strap.

I have 2 diaper bags. Neither of them meet the <$60 requirement though

But I love them both & since it was something I carry around everyday, I really wanted it to reflect my personality a little. (which is a little hippie/colorful/crazy) Honestly-worth every penny.

This is more of a messenger style. One of the cats peed in it early on & we threw it in the washer & it was perfect. Also loved that I could get matching accessories like a wallet & small zippered make/up type pouches. This was my gift from my closest friends at my shower 2yrs ago. Mine is in style BP4 which is the crazy hippy floral 4th swatch over.

This one I have in BLACK-NOT RED or PINK...I can't seem to find my exact style in black anymore. I got it on Zappos for $100 a year ago.

My sister uses a yoga bag - lots of compartments, and built-in wet storage area. It's handy unless you're actually carrying it a lot, and it is a royal pain getting it through a doorway while also carrying other things (ahem, child), but she mostly has it in her house and car and into wherever she's visiting.

as a admitted diaper bag junkie (i collect bags the way some mamas collect baby carriers ) i have to say that finding a good bag that is what YOU want and then saving the $$ for it is definately worth it. ju ju be are my faves, and you can find them gently used on the swap section of the ju ju be website (www.ju-ju-be.com) in the area called the pink room. the skip hop via messenger would also be a good choice, given your preferences, but it's more than $60. i'm not sure what you can buy at that price that will hold up well and be super organized- but if the timbuk2 bags are your style, check out www.sierratradingpost.com because they always have t2 at great prices.

Before DD began PLing, we used an Eddie Bauer Weekender bag. PERFECT, esp. since I like to bring toys along. I got it for $12 gently used on Ebay and it was SO worth it!

I have a Ju Ju Be Be All and Packabe. I like the Packabe more!

I have a lot of diaper bags. Currently using the sling tote from Fleurville, but it is not big enough for 2 in cloth dipes. My Skip Hop City Chic is huge, and I can get a good amount of supplies in there, but it's more than $60. I am starting to hate carrying around such huge bags though. I am currently on the hunt for something compact, but can hold all the supplies I need.

We just bought whatever was on at Walmart. : It's been sturdy, has some comparments but not too many (I don't know how you deal with a lot of compartments with cloth... nothing would fit!) Mine has a big central comparment, two waterbottle/babybottle holders on the ends and two medium sized zipper compartments on the front where I keep things that could leak like sunscreen and diaper cream.

It's great, and we've really loved it. : My bff has a skip hop and I hate all the comparments, and the fact that the top doesn't close so it dumps out all the time.

I just looked at ju-ju-be.com and I think I found a new obsession!! Definitely getting one!
