I need ideas!

I've "made" the kids Halloween costumes before, but never attempted to sew them myself. This year I'm feeling inspired and would like to give it a try. I found a really cute elephant pattern for DS that I think I'm going to go with (though it seems a little difficult for this beginner ), but DD wants to be a "book worm" and I can't seem to find any patterns or ideas on how to sew a worm costume. She wants a green worm costume and then plans on wearing glasses and carrying some books. We're also thinking a headband would be cute with little antennas... Any tips or ideas from you crafty mamas?

For the worm- I might have her wear a green sweatsuit, and then get some chinnell- not sure I spelled that right- but its a textured fabric with raised stripes, then you tack strips of that around her to make her look like an earthworm. Good luck-

might be hard but you could also make a tail (stuff it so it stays firm and thus off the ground) behind her (attached to a waistband not on the pants?) also, a skirt might work well (look more worm-y)
