I have been inspired!

I wanted to start a thread where we christians can come to encourage one another, be encouraged, post our favourite worship songs and basically just praise the Lord!!

Speaking of encouraging each other, do any of you ever watch with your kids the TV show "Dr. Wonder's Workshop"? It's on the Christian channel here on Saturday mornings, and the last episode was about encouraging each other. My 4-year-old, my partner, and I all like this show. It's in sign language with voice-over. The main story is about Dr. Wonder and his colleagues in the lab and the lessons they learn about working together. There are also segments with deaf kids talking about the topic of the day, an adult telling a Bible story that relates to the topic, and sometimes kids performing a praise song in both singing and signs. The values in it are really good without being heavy-handed. My partner is not a Christian, but this show does not bug him at all! He says it's basically just good values, plus he gets to hear Bible stories he never heard before and he likes the way they explain/interpret them.

I even listened to your pastor's messages, some of them and its SO nice to see a thriving church talking about Jesus, the cross, sin, and the bible without compromise. Thats so refreshing to see. Im very very very thankful today (its night time actually, 4am, I cant sleep ). There's so much I want to say about it but not sure where to begin. I was baptised sunday before last. Ive been a christian for 11 years but only just got baptised (long story, very long story lol). My two daughters and my husband were baptised too. I was SO happy and beeming on that day, let me tell you. I felt like I did when I got married. Im so greatful for so many things. Ive walked thru some dry, airy places, lots of valleys in my walk so far, and the last two and a half years have been the hardest, darkest, the worst. But today, right now, I am so thankful that God never let me go. Thru the doubting, the fighting on my part, the wrestling, He sustained me, carried me when I was weak, Im telling you. And now, He's filled me with Joy and Hope all over again. I cant help but praise Him! I am happy to surrender all to Jesus Christ.
When I was baptised it was wonderful, I thought 'Now, this is the ONE thing I KNOW my Savior and I have both gone thru.' As the water washed over my face I felt what He felt when He did the same thing. The water washing over His beautiful face, I even wondered if He got water up his beautiful nose like I did. Then when I was washing our wet clothes, I got to mine and thought 'These were the clothes I was baptised is... Sigh.' hehe. I felt like a new bride. I know it sounds silly but, man, it was special to me. Had been a long time coming.

I am so thankful that when I feel like Ive lost the plot, when I feel hopeless, He renews me with new hope. He brings me to life again. There are many many things Im greatful for, many things. But tonight I am most greatful for that... New Hope and His promises, His love for me. How He goes to some amazing lengths to show me His love.

For me when Im being held close, it doesnt even matter that the waves are going wild. I really cant explain it but its the most amazing thing. Keeping focused on Him, knowing Him, it is that peace that passes all understanding. Sometimes it is for His glory, for other to see and say 'How do you do it? How do you get thru?' Other times its just for me. Some trials nobody knows about but me and Him. Those have been some of my most special moments.

Romans 8 is my absolute favourite chapter in the bible... Its hard to pick my favourite verses from those ones but here goes the best. It starts off good and gets better and better!

Romans 8 18-39

ILoveSweetPea, I never used one when they were that young, but I did use bible story books. Stories about Jesus' parables and such. Sorry I couldnt be more helpful. I also told my kids stories, just from what I knew.

Well, today, Im just praising the Lord because he is the great I Am! Because He just is! I dont know about anyone else, but Im often washed back and forth between doubt and awe. This weekend God showed me beyond a shadow of a doubt that He is, that he cares about me, us, that he cares about the same things I do, that his promises are real and are never disappointing. Every detail of this sunday's church service seemed to have been planned just for dh and I. And I KNOW to some that might not sound right, but Im always blown away by how the Lord is SO specific in getting our attention. And so intimate. I got out of the car on our way into church singing the refrain to 'To God be the glory'...

In fact every song they sang on sunday was a song I had been looking up and singing at one point all week.

Also, the message was something that dh and I needed to both be there to hear, which I wont say what it was, but lets say we were both convicted.

Ill just say that today, I am thankful, Ive been convicted, Im repentant, and thankful all over again! Praise the Lord for his patience, for his love, which is like nothing else and Im convinced that no one can love like God can, nor without His help. Thank you Lord for teaching me to Love when its tough. For being patient with me when I wanna run away, but for never letting me go. Thank you Jesus Christ, for the JOY of serving you! I do pray others come to know Christ and His love. I cant help it!

Anyone know of any heavier christian bands? (I'm not a creed fan, btw!) I tend to heavier music.

Other than that, I love the old gospel songs that I grew up with like 'Looking for a city' and 'I'll fly away'. Some of the best memories I have of Church (I grew up in a very back woods Church of God in a town that was nothing more than a road or two) is singing those old time songs.
