Leaking? Bloody show. . .

I am totally confused. . .but excited as something is finally, definitely happening for me!

At 5am I woke with a "trickling" feeling, but thought it was just from the EPO capsule I had put in before bed. Went to the bathroom to find I was leaking some pink water. Assumed my BOW had a leak/had broken, tried to go back to sleep (ha!).

No contrax yet, but now an hour and a half later, no more "water" but a bunch of thin mucous with lots of pink, even a little red in it. More blood than I would have expected. . .nto a lot in volume I guess, but not the brown stuff I was expecting. This is definitely pink to reddish. And the mucous is much more watery than I would have thought.

So now I', not sure if my BOW has ruptured or if this is all just my mucous plug? Hmmmm.

Hope today's the day!

I have "leaks" every morning when I first get up. In fact, if I sit up to nurse Connor first thing, I leak through my underwear and leave a spot on the bed about the size of a deck of cards, I assume it's just discharge that accumulates over night.

But bloody show is a GREAT sign!!! Yay!!! I bet this is it for you! Keep us updated, you know how excited we get (and worried...I've been thinking of Diana for two days now!!)

Something still happening. . .

no more leaking (so thinking that wasn't my BOW breaking), but bloody mucous every time I wipe and a lot of crampy, menstrual-back-ache feelings. Talked to my MW who told me to rest as much as possible since this was promising, but it could be not till tonight that I was really in labor.

Still thinking this baby wants to be born in October (so anytime after midnight tonight!), but I'm happy with today too! DH is staying home from work and having me make a list of things for him to get done while we wait.

YAY!!! With my first, the bloody show was about 24 hours before "real" labor kicked in, but I had early labor leading up to that. I didn't rest, so by the time "real" labor started, I was already exhausted! I think that contributed to the cascade of interventions that eventually happened (plus a posterior baby) so take your midwife's advice and try to rest! At least sit down and watch a movie Eat and drink gentle foods, and spend some time talking to your baby about how excited you are to meet him!! Can you believe it...you're about to be a MOM!!!!

Well, DH and I have been to the grocery store to make sure we have supplies for the next few days. And I baked brownies as a labor treat. . .maybe more for my MW and doula than for me though.

I have been noticing mild contrax all day, but the last half hour I laid down on the couch with a movie and they really picked up. Still only in the "rather uncomfortable" zone and not any more painful than a bad period, but pretty regular (5-7 min apart) and definitely getting a lot of back-ache with each one. Not sure whether to stay laying down to keep them coming or to be moving around since it makes them more comfortable.

So things still going somewhere. . .just slowly. I feel very relaxed actually. . .and kind of surprised at this feeling. Just letting it unfold, I guess I am so relieved that its finally beginning!
