I had my afi/nst yesterday and my fluid level showed up as low -- 3. I was sent to hospital triage and I had them re-evaluate me and he must have peed, because it had gone back up to 7.9. Which I guess is normal, but on the low side of normal.
I have another afi tomorrow and I'm concerned about my options if it's low again. I am very convinced that I want to avoid an induction because I am a vbac patient. My midwives were really unconcerned about the risks of inducing me as a vbac which I was surprised at as I have researched and found that the risk of rupture increases greatly. No one would really explain why low fluid levels were such a cause for concern at 41+ weeks. Is it a true emergency? Or something that you could work around? If it is a true emergency, as a vbac patient would I be better off just getting a c-section or trying for an induction?
My little boy doesn't seem to want to be born, but I don't want him to suffer in there with low fluid, and I don't want to increase the risk of a rupture. I am not sure really how to make a smart, safe choice at this point. Could I ask them to put me on IV fluids or something?
