Papa, I read that as tabbed sections and POCKET protectors! Guess that makes me a dork too!

I totally feel you on that cejae! I work in higher Ed and on the day I'll likely be doing my next iui I have a big workshop to do and I'm actually looking forward to it. Yay for nerdy types!

Okeedoke kiddos. Insem #1 of cycle #3 of "active" trying and month 7 of TTC total. Will this be it? Only time will tell.

Heading over to KD's at 1pm to get this show on the road. Here's the lowdown:
  • No +OPK yet, but wouldn't think I'd be Oing till Sunday or Monday anyhow. So thinking this is perfectly fine. The swim team can just hang out and warm up before the big race.
  • Very slippery and thin EWCM, just inside. Think this is good for spermies (as opposed to the more "gloppy" EWCM? ... sorry for being so graphic). Still nice and stretchy, just very thin. Maybe from all the green tea??
  • Temp didn't drop as much as it has in the past on this CD... hoping that this doesn't really mean anything.
  • I'm supposed to bring KD the other three tupperware cups that he uses for the upcoming three insems, but while looking for them all this morning, I realized I only had two... the other one was in the fridge containing leftover tomato paste. DP must have use it last week! Um, oh well.
  • One of my three syringes broke so now I only have two for four insems. I'm worries that 48 hours isn't enough drying time for washing in between. Thinking I'm being too paranoid about this.
  • I've been doing 10 minute fertility meditations for the last two days. Will do one again before inseming, and after.
  • Will have my Instead Cup at the ready, as per usual!
  • Finally remembered to bring a pillow for under my hips to bring to KD's house. I've been forgetting this since moving the insems from my place to his...
  • DP is REALLY sick w/ some sort of flu (not H1N1, though) and I'm super worried I'm coming down w/ something. My head is killing me and I'm really congested. I hope this doesn't interfere w/ life creation!!!

Please cross your fingers for me that everything goes smoothly! I always feel so confident until I actually push the plunger. Then I start questioning EVERYTHING. :P

ETA - Um, I would very much appreciate a crock pot meal waiting for me when I get home. I suppose I'll have to settle for this weekend, since I'd would have had to start the 'pot this morning! Thanks for all the recipe suggestions!

bttrflygypsy, ha! So glad you understand. I think it's great you'll have a workshop to take your mind off the obsession. Plus, it has to be good mojo to spend the iui day doing what you enjoy and are good at.

Lyndzies, fingers crossed for you! Don't worry about the syringes. All you need to do is wash with soap and water. If you are worried about drying break out a blowdryer . Get lots of rest so you don't get sick!

AFM, insemmed yesterday and then spent the day doing a total fangirl geek out over big name social theorist. My temp is wacky this month, but cervical mucus has been great. So who knows....Here's the chart: My Ovulation Chart

Wahoo for the insem and then the fangirl geek out. And now I'm dying to know who said social theorist is.

AFU -- I just wrote the last sentence of the dissertation draft. Getting some writing group feedback today, advisor feedback in the next few days, then submission. But pounding out that last sentence felt good!

Katie had bloodwork done yesterday and her numbers look good. Same dose of gonal-f yesterday and today, ultrasound tomorrow. She thinks ER is coming sooner rather than later as she's feeling very "egg-y". Thinking that's a great sign!

be well all,
megin

LAST SENTENCE OF THE DISSERTATION DRAFT! WAHOOO!!!:

Go treat yourself to some little thing to celebrate. That's huge. Revising is so much easier than creating.
all this talk about dissertations and academics takes me back so many years. i can identify with all that stress from when i completed my doctorate degree and am so glad that i am not there any more!

sorry to all of you who are in disseration hell & wishing you much success!
Is there some crazy "requirement" around here that we all either have doctorates or be on our way to one in order to get preggers or something? Craziness!

The combined credentials really are astounding.

wow, i feel so lacking around here with all the academics! i have a lowly bsc. in computer science. however, i will say that it is liberating to have a career where a masters and/or phd isn't necessary.

one of the guys who was in my band (oh those many years ago) has a phd in organic chemistry and i know how much he sweat blood over his thesis, so i take my hat off to you all.

Megin - WOOOT!!!!! That's so awesome!

Lyndzies - you're totally paranoid. Aren't we all? You don't have to worry about the tiny little amount of water that might still be in the syringe after you plunge a few barrel fulls of air through it. Like, get every last speck out by drawing up air and expelling it forcefully, and that will be good enough.

AFM - My throat is owie. My stomach was rolling around doing something bizarre when I awoke this morning, some sort of nausea flippiness. I also had some crampy heaviness last night and this morning, and actually, right now too.

Does anyone happen to have any bloodwork experience? Oh, Indigo, you're reading this...

I picked up a photocopy of my entire chart today, which I asked for at yesterday's appt.

My doc has been saying my thyroid is fine, fine, fine, but on every set of bloodwork it's low, at least TSH, as in the reference range is .30 - 4.9 (I think, I don't have it right in front of me) but mine is consistently .9something which strikes me as possibly low thyroid but not subclinical, so not low enough for a doc to say "LOW" but possibly low enough to interfere with conception.

Also, my FSH is scarily low. In my follicular phase, it's like 1.something, depending on which bloodwork I look at, and that seems very low - which might explain why I O so late in my cycle. (reference range is 2-10 ideally on CD 3, it goes up from there)

Now, low FSH is a good thing, too high means that the ovaries on non-responsive. I've actually never heard of too low, but I'm thinking it's VERY low, so it's possible I'm not producing enough quickly enough to get my ovaries to O quickly enough. Anybody know anything?

Since we have so many PhDs and wannabes, would it be too much to ask for just one MD or (even better!) RE to join the thread???

Hi all! Just stopping by to say hi. I'm trying not to obsess this month (I know, we've all heard that before.) Hoping for an egg retrieval next Tuesday, bu it's looking like it might be pushed back to Wed or Thursday. GRR! Hurry UP!

My big TTC accomplishment is that I finally was able to self-inject, despite my needle phobia. Usually my wife gives me the injections, but I had to travel for a week. In case it helps anyone else, this workbook was really helpful: self-injection workbook

Speaking of needles, I broke a record today: 4 injections in 24hr (lupron, follistim, menopur, and flu shot). At least, for the last one, the nurse gave me a tootsie roll.

Love,
another crock-pot-loving, over-educated, frustrated TTC-er

papa, the previous discussion on this from my other board was along the lines of borderline hyperthyroidism plus pcos and adrenal fatigue. the poster was attempting to "fix" the issues with homeopathic remedies.

not sure how much of that is relevant to you but i thought i'd let you know.

gl!

Hi Coco!!!!! I just saw your name and had to say hello! How are you?

We are going to be TTC again within the next couple months. We are going to be doing (hopefully!!!) IVF with DW's eggs and me as the gestational parent. We'll see what happens. The chemo and other cancer treatments she has has pretty much jacked up her reproductive system. She did not stimulate when we tried the one cycle to harvest eggs before chemo.

Coco is getting so big...can't believe she is almost 9 months now. She's so rotten and so perfect!

Hello !

Sounds like we are going to be TTCing together again

I'm glad to hear that you daughter is doing well Do you have pics?

As for me, after a lot of change... I am now doing much better and am in a new relationship. We both wanted kids and tried before and now are both very ready to try again together. We have our first meeting at the clinic in 2 weeks. This time I wont be carrying... My needing an IVF is making things more complicated and my province is supposed to vote a law making IVF covered by our medicare... but it hasnt happened yet. So my gf will be carrying our first child. We hope to be able to try at least once before Xmas

Lets keep in touch Its good to see you !

Coco

That's wonderful! Sonja's into doing something like that. What is it exactly that you do? She wants to try a variation on Hypnobirth as well.

Mmmm... I showed my hunny that book and that slow-cooker blog that FTMpapa shared, and she's all into crockpot cooking now! Yay! So far we had only used it for making beans and pasta sauce. Oh, and Red River Cereal once.

AFU: DP's allergies are getting worse... she's breaking out in hives constantly now. Argh. We're doing the elimination diet to figure out what they are. We don't feel very good about getting her knocked up when she's barely able to keep herself nourished, let alone an fetus. Plus if she doesn't feel good now, if she got morning sickness, she'd feel even worse. Hopefully our Chinese doc/acupuncturist will be able to help her out.

Holy crap!

So, I'm back from a great queer wedding in SF, where I managed to not obsess too much and take 2 non-definitive tests (I know, I know, that's not exactly not obsessing). Came home today and bought a digital text and got a YES!

This is very exciting and a little overwhelming: we were so focused on getting pregnant that we hadn't thought too much about what to do once we found out it worked!

I'd like to wait a few more days (and a few more tests) before you move me to the BFP list, and in the meantime, I'd appreciate sticky wishes if you've got them...

Back soon to catch up on everything I missed,
Beastie
