that cookbook is my favorite. i couldnt cook at all. just couldnt get it. the simplicity in the book and the connections are what did it for me. now i make things and they taste good. even stuff that isnt it the book. for some reason the way it was explained in that book make something click for me and now i understand how it works. have more learning to do , but DH likes thhe change, considering he taught me how to cook most of what we eat. that book made me love the kitchen.

Just looked at the apartment next door and hope that I get it. It's a tiny bit bigger (which isn't saying much) than what I have and it has more closet space. I just hope that they'll give it to me for the same amount I'm paying now. heh heh.

This is a time of new beginnings so I hope it works out in my favor.

Oh nice, will think good thoughts for you. You do realize now that you're going to be Home schooling you will accumulate all manner of stuff lol so more storage is good

We went to the street party last night and while it was fun and the boys mostly enjoyed it, it was WAY over advertised. We went early & left an hour later (about all the boys are really good for, then they end up overwhelmed & so do we lol) But apparently around 6pm there was a traffic jam that stretched a considerable distance (I'm guessing 4-5kms!!) People came from clear over the other side of the city and the tiny bayside 'town' (suburb with small 'downtown section' really) just is not large enough to support that many people You could barely turn around. But the boys dressed up and we got them a few lucky dip bags with goodies in them, bought them bubble shooting 'guns' which are great fun, and picked up some macadamia nut brittle on the way out So all is not lost lol

We decided since it was only 615when we left that we'd just come hom where we could relax and watch movies or something. Off to swim lessons in a few Hope everyone has a blessed Samhain!

Hello all! What a great weather we had for the trick or treaters!

We made a big pot of white bean and dandelion green soup, 'bone' biscuits, salad and a spot of wine to fill in around the edges! The biscuits turned out so cute, but DD is still too young to pay much mind. She had a bunch of fun out there going door to door. It's sad that fewer and fewer ppl participate though.

Ugh I'm stuck watching the new friday the 13th - BIL and SIL ended up coming over after all..... I hate horror movies. Trying to not notice the screaming in the background.

We had a pretty good day - if you extract the screaming meltdowns by DS. A tree came down in my backyard yesterday evening in a windstorm. Amazingly, while it grew just 8 feet from my house, it fell just about perfectly parallel to the house and managed to pretty much miss the house entirely. One panel of our metal roof might need to be replaced - the 2" lip that overhangs the eave was crushed. It also missed hitting the electric hook-up on the roof by less than 6 inches - so we feel very lucky.

This afternoon I took DS up to the nature center to meet a great horned owl. He was thrilled. I can't believe how much this kid soaks up the natural world. I know he has been around the nature center a huge amount since he was just a few weeks old. (At 3 months, he was in a sling while I taught owl classes and owl prowl hikes- so yeah, it is in his genes and upbringing). Its just funny how his knowledge base is just a bit skewed from the typical almost 2 year old.

And tonight, he met "the great pumpkin"

Last night was so warm trick or treating that I was actually hot in my robe. It was windy and the moon was almost full. Very cool looking night. Sure wish I could have gone to a pagan gathering.

Anyway, ds woke up way too early. Even by his normal standards.

Morning mamas. Well last night was beautiful here too, we had some rain, but it was warm and very windy. We had 1 trick or treater I would like to think it was the weather? Yesterday I wore a shirt, out in public (huge step) that has a pentagram and the words, Proud to be who I am. Maybe not a huge step since it was halloween but I felt brave wearing it.

There were a LOT of T or T'ers here but we were out for most of it. By the time we came back, I only had a handful of kids. No one after 7:30.

We had 18 or so ToTs whihc is more than previous years and they were in real costumes which was nice, for a couple years it was all jerseys (cheer, ftball, scr, etc) BORING. DH didn't even want to hand out anything cause I didn't buy candy and made him fork over his stash.

Due to allergies we had the great pumpkin leave goody bags on the front bench while we were gone that the girls got to discover when we came home. I'll try to post a pic of DD1, she immediately opened every sucker

That is so awesome, redveg. It's a first step. My early days I was wearing a pentagram on a thong around my neck, inside my shirt. I felt so...sneaky, sort of. Like I wanted to show it but wasn't ready yet. It did feel brave. Now I'm wide, wide open. I like to think I am the kind of Pagan I want people to see, the kind that if I'm the only Pagan they ever meet, can honestly and with integrity represent the Pagan community. Same with my sobriety. It's that important to me to live a life of dignity and integrity.

OMG mamas...I'm so, so in love. I just can not wait 24 more days to see him!
