We're planning on doing the trick or treat at the Zoo on Saturday. We've got costumes already.

FWIW, I think Fairbanks has a KICK BUTT LLL leader! (well, that is if she's still the leader). She helped me SOOOOOOOOOOOO much in the beginning. She truly was a godsend to me.

We're thinking about going to the zoo Saturday. There are a couple halloween things out here but I think the zoo would be more fun, but maybe kind of crazy too.

Sunday night while I was trying to go to sleep I had quite a few decent contractions--not the squeezy-yet-not-hurty braxton hicks kind, but the more pinchy-pokey-in-my-cervix kind. I still couldn't feel my cervix though in the morning when I checked, so even though in the night I had been starting to wonder if it was early labor, it's obvious that it wasn't. Still though, we're getting closer. My birth pool is 80% inflated and leaning against my wall (so that it will be faster to get it up when labor does start, cuz it takes ages to blow up so we didn't deflate it all the way after the trial run). I've got all my supplies in the box there next to the pool. The midwife is doing her home visit on thursday...which feels kinda late to me but oh well, I don't really expect the baby to come before then, and even if he does it's not like my house is hard to find so I don't anticipate it being a problem.
In the meantime, my 2.5yo (who has slept through the night about a dozen times in his life) has slept through the night the last two nights in a row, which means that I have too...I appreciate the sleep, but i confess it also makes me wonder if it's one of those little blessings from God that I get to sleep for a couple of nights because I'm about to spend one up all night laboring. I feel pretty ready for this baby, but DH has parent-teacher-conferences on thursday so he can't really get a sub and he really can't skip them, so I really don't want the baby to come before thursday. Actually, I dont' want him to come before saturday--I want to take the kids to the church halloween festival cuz it's turned cold here and I know they won't want to trick or treat for long so I want them to have a chance for some indoor festivities earlier in the day. So sunday would be good...you hear that baby? Sunday would be really really great.

ETA, I've officially lost my belly button. DH calls it a 'turkey timer" cuz it pops right at the end...so if I've lost it that means baby's done cooking and can come out now, right?

Looks like I'll be coming to ANC Nov 7th or 8th, through the 11th for work. Anything fun happening?

So, ladies, what do I do with 60 lbs of apples? I was thinking applesauce, but that sounds like a lot of applesauce. I only have roughly 15 quart sized mason jars, though I suppose I could buy more if I needed to. I wasn't planning on having so many, but I ended up with an unplanned 20 lbs from our co-op this morning. So, what would you do with that many apples?

I just got home from a mw appointment and I asked her if she'd check me and she said sure. (I'm 37+6 by my count, although in her records she's going with an EDD 3 days later as per the u/s because that gives her a wider window for legally catching, just in case...) Anyway, I'm 1cm and really really really soft, but still fully posterior cervix and baby is at -2. So when he decides to engage we'll probably move right along, but for the moment labor isn't imminent yet. Saturday night after the party i'll start doing some deep squats or see if DH will help me out with some prostoglandin application maybe we can get the kiddo to come on Sunday. I could go with that.

Hi Mamas!

Sorry to just jump in here, but I need ped recommendations NOT associated with TVC. We love our ped at TVC, but we just can't handle their incapable finance department any more. Any ideas???

Thanks!

What kind are they?

When I make applesauce (I just chop, steam and then blender-ize & season) I usually get 6 large apples (about 2.5 lbs) to 3-4 cups sauce, but I make really chunky stuff with the skin on, so you could probably make it be less. That would be a whole lotta sauce...

What about apple butter? So yummy and it makes great holiday gifts. I chop and slowcooker it. If you have a dehydrator you could do apple chips too.

I buy apples in really large quantities, although I've never had more than 40 lbs at once.

Applesauce, apple butter, canned apples for later and you want to make pie!
Apple Muffins, Apple bread,.......

oh, dehydrator! Good suggestion!

I would make about 5 apple pies and seal and freeze them. I would make some applesauce and some apple butter. Also there are some yummy recipes for apple type coffee cakes that you could make and freeze.

I wonder if there is a way to just freeze chopped apples? I bet you could. I like adding chopped apples to pancake batter.. I also stick chopped apples in my coleslaw but I haven't done that with frozen apples... they might lose some of their crunchiness that way..
