It is not too bad but we usually get a return big enough to absorb this cost.
Not sure, really.. I just know that last year's was over the child income "limit" and it has been before as well... but I don't recall exactly what that limit is.. but $1305 dollars this year is a lot less, so...

Maybe this will help.

children pay tax at their own income tax rate on unearned income they receive up to a threshold amount ($1,800 in 2008)
looking at the article, it seems like the numbers have been juggled around quite a bit over the last few years, so perhaps that is why we have different numbers?

Anyway, the article talks about the "kiddie tax" quite a bit..

We will be using our PFD's to take care of bills, and hopefully further our way off, off grid.
We are weary of being enslaved to others in order to live.
Taxes are one thing, but other things like very high electric bills, even though we are very frugal with using it, are very hard on us.

An Aladdin Lamp is something I want to get (even though lamp oil is costly), to tide us over till we have a more sustainable replacement figured out.
I am browsing ebay and craigs list for a used one right now

None of this alternative "green stuff" for us. It is very costly!!
I dream of having 50 acres where I can grow and raise everything we need

that sounds awesome! Seriously.

We are discussing going "green" on our roof. I think it will be great, my only concern is winds. We live in one of those lovely wind corridor here.

We are going to un-sod our yard and plant lowbush cranberries and crowberries! Little slice of heaven in Anchorage.

Last year's PFD taxes were under $200 per person. The kids' don't go into accounts with their names on them - they go into an account with my name on it so we're not actually paying on them based on a total amount they made (we don't contribute any other money during the year to an account for them). Things get messy if kids have a separate account.

You're talking about bank accounts right?

Hi everyone, happy October!

No PFDs for us this year...next year!

VitD...my levels were normal, I still supplement so hopefully DS gets some. Kids take their normal vitamins but I need to up their VitD.

I am freaking out about childcare My frind is watching them in my home now but she is having a baby soon and I need to find something else. I am having major anxiety just imagining my sweet little baby being stuck in a crib all day Our current sitter comes to the house, which works really well since I work nights and get home at 9am. She brings the baby to me to nurse when he's hungry and he naps with me, so I get some snuggle time in.

Man, I feel crappy today. I don't know why. Headache, body ache. My husband's son announced upon arriving at our house last night, 'I got this really cool nasal flu vaccine on Wednesday!' Ugh.

Vit D. I didn't realize, but my calcium citrate, zinc, magnesium supplement I take at night (if I remember) also has 800 I.U. of Vit D3 per 'serving'. I serving is two tablets.

DD was sick Tues/Wed/Thurs. DH was sick Sat/Sun/Mon. and now I feel like crap.

It's been busy already this week and we didn't do usual stuff last night due to illness but I had a PAC meeting for school tonight and that always makes Tues. feel busy. Kids got haircuts, DD went to karate.

I found out today that DD will be the only one in her class taking the STAR Reading Assessment via computer on Thursday. Her teacher wants an idea of where she's at so she knows what to work on with her. She had her math assessment today and did well on it.

Supposed to be beautiful this weekend!

I ask, because the body does not accept Vitamins that are not naturally occuring. Take for example, fortified milk.
The milk is highly processed, killing off the natural D ( as well as everything else) hence the need to fortify it with vitamins from a lab.
Due to laws that allow deceptive labeling, they can use the word natural, or naturally occuring.

Its the same with calcium in processed milk, or in things like tums. It cannot be assimilated by the body, because it is not in its natural state.
Most of what is clogging up arteries today, is unsaturated fats and processed or fake calcium.
Peer reviewed studies prove this, in case you are curious.

Our government stands behind fortified everything, and yet, tests are proving that this is not working, and in fact, is taking this backwards.

Going back to a more ancient way of eating and "supplementing" does wonders.
Raw milk, real cod liver oil ( not grocery store variety, with labels that say natural levels of vitamins) and stearing clear of fortified and processed, will usually solve deficiencies.

I had lots of winter problems, for several years after moving up here.
After making the above changes, all the problems disapeared!
Sorry for the delay in getting back... another computer bit the dust.

I was taking prescription Vit D supplement pills. Evidently, the strongest produced. It's obvious I have absorption issues via my intestinal tract.
