Hey, am I the only MDC-er out in Bethel/the Y-K Delta? I've been thinking about starting some kind of breastfeeding support group (like I need something else to do at this point...). Couldn't be LLL, because we'd need a leader. More an informal group.

Thoughts?

what? Who do they have working their this year???? Seriously?

Do you know why my kids were denied?

Because the lady swore up and down that I marked NO in the spot where it asks if they were gone more then 90 days. She noticed that both my husband and i marked YES. To clear up this discrepancy, she called me. I told her that I marked it YES and we were all gone until June 6th. I told her I had the copies of the paperwork in my hand and it said YES. I asked her what she was looking at and she told me her computer screen showed it as a NO.

DENIED! (reason? I lied about my kids not being out of state)


I had to pay $100 for them to LOOK at our appeal. I sent in copies of my paperwork (print outs from the internet application) as well.

Freaken Idiots! It clearly said YES on it. Anyway, they were all overturned and we got the appeal money back but what a freaken hassle!!


I still have no idea what that lady was looking at. Her name was Crystal by the way.

Last year my dd's pfd $$ didn't come with my dh's and mine because they were evaluating whether she qualified or not. It took an extra month or two and we finally got the check. The year before, my dh had to appeal their denial of his pfd and he got it eventually. Such a pain though.

Recuperating

Well, I got quite sick this week!.
It's been years since I got truly sick, never mind this sick!
Fever is finally done, and I am taking some homeopathic stuff for the annoying cough, which is killing me at times.

I think I would be even better today, if I had not asperated my fermented cod liver oil last night
I'd like to have died, when that happened!
I started coughing right when I was swallowing it. which made me gag

Yeah, they said mine is still being evaluated...not that it's been denied. I do have an idea of why it might be (I guess I should have submitted an amendment or something? I don't know how to do that...) but anyway, when i originally filled out the paperwork I didn't have an AK driver's license yet. Um, I lived in Pelican and I never went into town, you know? I mean NEVER. So I didn't get a chance to go get one. In may 08 was literally my first chance to go get one, and I went and took the test and stuff but didn't have my social security card with me (Even though I had my old DL, and my birth certificate, and my passport...) so they wouldn't give it to me. I literaly was not in Juneau again until May 09...so yeah, I have an AK license now, but I didn't back in feb when I filed...so while I wasn't "maintaining an out of state license" per se, my only current license was issued by another state. So that's where my bet is.
I hope they get their act together fast though. I have a midwife to pay!!

sorry, forgot about that multi quote thingy.

Anyway, we sold our house! In like 6 days on the market

So now, we're looking for a rental in town. We think we have a line on a place, an acquaintance moved out to the valley like a year ago, their home in Anchorage hasn't sold, so we're talking to them about renting. It's more than we need, but I know it's nice, clean, has a garage... so head and shoulders above the other rentals we're looking at.

I also have an acct for my biz, and I swear, I've gotten so many fake followers with like one tweet and guarantee it's a link to porn- it's really starting to bug me to the point where I think I'm going to just shut it down. speaking of which that reminds me there's another one I haven't blocked yet.

I don't really find it as useful or interesting as facebook. I would love to friend any Alaskan mamas there, so pm me if you'd like.

Well, we got in our second car accident in the last month last night. Of course, the guy couldn't have hit the truck that had already been hit (that went into the bodyshop this morning) he had to hit our other truck. So now, both trucks have damage. *sigh* We were able to pick up a rental this morning though, so we at least have one completely functional vehicle. The bodyshop guy laughed at us when we told him "here's this one... we'll be back with the other in a little bit to get an estimate on it". It's not our month.

Does anyone know the rule about car seat replacement and accidents? I didn't even bother with the first wreck, because we were parked and while the kid did 5k worth or damage to our truck, there wasn't much of an impact at all.. but last night, there was massive impact. He rear ended us probably doing about 35-40. Hubby saw it coming and started to roll forward, but there was traffic in the intersection, so he couldn't get very far before the guy nailed us. Emma was strapped tightly in her 5 way harness britax, and she complained a bit of a headache last night.. but the pediatrician felt it was probably more adrenaline dump than injury and today she is fine... but I'm pretty sure I should probably have his insurance replace her seat... just couldn't remember if there was a "rule" on when that should be done. Additionally, does anyone know where you can dispose of those seats so someone doesn't end up picking it out of the trash or something? I'd hate for somebody to think they were getting a great seat without knowing it's no longer classified as safe.

At any rate... I'm going to the doctor today to get checked out. Last night I had a sharp pain in my back when we got hit... then by bed time it was an all over muscle ache so I figured it was just typical whip lash kind of stuff, but today, the sharp pain in my middle back is still there. *sigh* I don't have time for this. I'm just SO thankful we are all okay for the most part.

Holy cow! Glad you're OK. I think the carseat needs to be replaced. Maybe ask in the "family safety" forum? I think you'll get a resounding "REPLACE IT!" response.

I've never had to deal with this, but have always wondered... would insurance cover the cost of a replacement carseat? I mean, you'd probably have to buy one now and have it reimbursed, but I know from my days taking insurance claims that you can be covered for things damaged inside the car. When they call you or you call them, and when/if they ask you if anything inside the car was damaged, say, "Well, our carseat did its duty and will now need to be replaced." That way, it's on record from the get-go.

My family has always kept Japanese good luck driving amulets in our cars (I don't know what they're really called) ... you get them at buddhist temples and they've been specifically blessed to help keep you out of accidents... I would send you one in a heartbeat if I knew where to get one here!!

Stay safe, and hope recovery and repairs go quickly!

This. Also, perhaps throw the padding/cover away separately... AND graffiti all over the plastic part.
