This may be a vent and possible posted in the wrong place. Perhaps someone has been where I seem to be and has some pointers.
I am mom to two children - one born naturally at a hospital, one born at home - both happy experiences with breastfeeding posing no significant challenges. Since the birth of my daughter (this June) natural childbirth and breastfeeding have begun to consume my thoughts. I want so badly to influence other women to trust their bodies and make choices that are best for themselves and their babies.
I cloth diaper, co-sleep, carry my baby in a sling, etc -but none of those things stir up as much emotion and passion as I have for natural childbirth and breastfeeding. I feel that that a natural birth starts a new mother on the right foot for breastfeeding, which is a great base for parenting.
Since I have a baby that nurses every where we go, discussions of childbirth and BF'ing come up. I always share my positive experience. But, the more I share, the more I feel like I am having no impact. This week, I was talking with 3 other mothers, all were induced and had C-sections with subsequent scheduled C-sections. I shared a bit about my positive homebirth and they still said it would have been easier if I had just had a C-section.
I am so frustrated, it is actually keeping me up at night (despite my much needed sleep). What can I do to actually make an impact in the lives of women and babies?
What do you do to harness your passion to affect positive change?
How do you avoid getting angry with people that think you are "off you rocker?"
