well, in case you were interested i think i found the place he was talking about. Olivera Egg Ranch 3315 Sierra Rd (corner of Sierra Rd & Piedmont). And I found it searching the list of EBT takers. I did a quick google on them, and it looks like they have organic chicken, as well as some other stuff. I am going to go check them out either tomorrow or thursday!

During the growing season I get a lot of leads on good deals, and even sometimes get free produce in bulk quantities. (Like earlier this year I got 70 pounds of onions. For free.)

We could be our own tribe .
I'm definitely interested in this produce delivery thing. Are the prices really good down there? Hmm, I think I'm going to start up a Traditional Food tribe in the California FYT section. We can talk more there. Or through PM's, whichever.

Allergen free week!

I guess it's just validating to see it acknowledged. I'm interested to see the recipes once they are posted! Part of the issues w/ allergen free cooking/eating are all those little ingredients that make things work (in liu of more commonly used, *cheaper* ingredients; gums, thickeners, allergen free extracts, gf baking powders/sodas etc--they can add up!!
I just read it. Sounds interesting. I wonder how she will do that if she said it's impossible without allergens? Is she still trying to live on it or just theorizing?

Ohhhh, it's getting exciting! I don't know if Real Produce takes EBT. They should though, as should the Produce Market I go to. I can ask next time I'm there.

Where is this list? Is it just for your local area?

I'd love to see the list of EBT takers too! I'm in your area, on the Peninsula, and would love to find a local source for organic chickens that takes EBT.

JTAMom, did you start a tribe thread for local mamas? If so, could you PM it to me? I'd love to get in on your produce group!

I feed my family of 4 on a food stamp budget and we are gluten and dairy free. In fact, I recently did two months of a food budget of $125. I have posted extensively about it elsewhere.

do you have a Lunardi's or Trader Joe's? They both sell organic chicken and take EBT. My local Lunardi's also carries grassfed ground beef and lamb for a fair price $3.99/lb.
