Just a quick vent here. I just got back from having to have a spot compression and a sonogram because the mammogram I had a couple of weeks ago was hard to read, because I'm lactating. So, I had told the people at the radiology clinic that I was lactating when I made the initial appointment. I made the appointment because my OB/GYN wanted me to. My sister had been diagnosed with breast cancer this year so he thought it was important.
Today, I tell the technician as she's putting a sticky thing on my nipple that I'm lactating. She reacts with a big What?! goes off to consult with a doctor whether they should continue with this. Then she comes back and says scoldingly, you should have a mammogram only after you've stopped breastfeeding for at least 6 months. I say, my doctor knows I'm lactating and wanted it done. No one has ever told me that. She says, how old is the baby? I say, 9 months. Her (in shocked surprise): 9 months? Why are you breastfeeding so long? I said, It's not that long. She said, when are you going to stop? I said, I don't know. I should think at least a year if not longer. She didn't say anything after that but isn't it funny that people think that 9 months is a long time? I wrote a note about it not being really appropriate for a technician to behave as though I were deliberately doing something to make the job of looking for cancerous growths in my breasts harder by breastfeeding my baby and stuck it in the suggestion box.

I hope you worded the suggestion like you did here, cuz it's awesome. You're absolutely right it's absurd.
