I forgot to soak the beans last night. I worked late and just forgot. This is the great thing about having a well-stocked pantry. I was able to quickly adjust without ordering in or going out. I guess I'll do the beans on Thursday.
This is the sad part. I called my mom from work this morning. She lives with us and is almost 70 years old, but still quite able-bodied. I told her I forgot to soak the beans and asked if she would do the quick soak method for me and I'd finish them off when I got home. She didn't know how to do it. She didn't *want* to learn how to do it and didn't want me to walk her through it. I don't mean to be critical, but what person, born during WWII, doesn't know how to soak beans???? She is so useless in the kitchen it makes me cringe!! How can someone live so long and be so inadequate in the kitchen? Sorry for the rant. I just love to cook so much and it would be awesome to have someone (like Clara) to learn more "old-timey" ways from.
