I just lurked last month and found the thread inspiring. DH and DS2 are spending a few days away (grandma's and a job interview so things will get a bit wonky.

1-- Dh and kids had tacos. I had a work potluck and slacked and brought nothing
2--Dh made curry
3--bean, veggie, and a tiny amount of leftover ham soup with cornbread
4--homemade pizza
5--chili

This time I'm only going to note if food isn't homemade.

1) shepard's pie
2) eggs on toast
3) cream cheese-stuffed hot pepper, oatmeal cookies (weird)
4) pizza
5) fried rice
6) Squash stuffed with sausage and apples, chard on the side (this was so good, as long as week keep getting CSA squash, it is going on the regular rotation)
7) Calzones-with leftover sausage, chard on the side
8)eggplant parm (made this weekend and froze), kale on the side
9) patty melts, homefries
10) Garlic, Kale, rice soup
11) Tofu pot pie
12) egg on toast, collards
13) stuffed peppers

1 - Chili and cornbread
2 - Papa Murphy's (50% off coupon; I work late)
3 - Grilled beef fillet with bernaise sauce, sweet peas, and homemade scratch rolls
4 - Dorowat (Ethiopian chicken and onion dish) over rice
5 - FFY (fend for yourself, I work late, dh works late)
6 - ham and beans with cornbread, tossed salad
6 - Breakfast hash (sausage, potato, red pepper, onion, egg, spices) & toast

I forgot to soak the beans last night. I worked late and just forgot. This is the great thing about having a well-stocked pantry. I was able to quickly adjust without ordering in or going out. I guess I'll do the beans on Thursday.

This is the sad part. I called my mom from work this morning. She lives with us and is almost 70 years old, but still quite able-bodied. I told her I forgot to soak the beans and asked if she would do the quick soak method for me and I'd finish them off when I got home. She didn't know how to do it. She didn't *want* to learn how to do it and didn't want me to walk her through it. I don't mean to be critical, but what person, born during WWII, doesn't know how to soak beans???? She is so useless in the kitchen it makes me cringe!! How can someone live so long and be so inadequate in the kitchen? Sorry for the rant. I just love to cook so much and it would be awesome to have someone (like Clara) to learn more "old-timey" ways from.

Tonight is white bean and swiss chard soup, with roasted acorn squash halves and Japanese sweet potatoes.

Mmm.

I'll join! I'm embarrased about how often we get takeout. It was weekends - Sat and Sun - because we'd be busy. Them DH got Fridays off, so we'd go out then too. Then Papa Johns started $5.99 large pizzas on Mondays, and that's a great deal... Ugh, it's out of hand. My goal is to cut back to twice a week.

S 4- chicken tenders, zucchini, rice
M 5- pizza (takeout)
T 6- spaghetti, cucumber
W 7- chicken enchiladas, salad
T 8- leftovers
F 9- our anniversary, maybe I'll cook steak
S 10- block party potluck, taking a pasta salad
S 11- Out??
M 12- must resist cheap pizza

I worked today, and then had to go to HIS work so we could choose our next-year health/dental/vision insurance stuff (thank GOD we have that, he actually admitted he has to get his dental work done!) We knocked some of our costs down by choosing certain options, that will help us save up the out-of-pocket part of what we know needs done.

01 - cheeseburgers, frozen mozarella sticks
02 - (planned and made ahead, my house smells yummy!) pot of beans with smoked pork, biscuits for dinner, and we made mac & cheese for lunch.
03 - eggplant parmesan with spaghetti and ragu, with garlic bread on the side, so good!
04 - take-out from Sonic
05 - made up for the take-out, it was grilled cheese sandwiches
06 - pork chops, green beans, bread & butter
