Bananas

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this...

My son is 6 (almost 7 months)... I make all of his foods and so far he's had no problems, except for when we try bananas... We've only done it twice, but when we do his skin around his mouth gets red and raised for about an hour. Nothing else happens, he doesnt seem upset or anything.

Is this a food allergy or a skin irritation? I am obviously pretty ignorant about this subject, so anything you could tell me would be great!

Thanks!

If it were me at that age, I'd assume he was sensitive, stop it for several weeks then try again. I've read that bananas are one of those foods that can cause reactions in those sensitive to latex so you may want to keep that in the back of your head.

I would assume it is an allergy. My dd is highly allergic to bananas. I would also assume a latex allergy (so always ask for latex free at the doc, for instance) and I would be careful with avocados, melons, mangoes and kiwi as well.
