known breech- wwyd? - Page 2

my son was breech.

listen to your body. give an ear to any fears that you have but don't let it direct your actions.

my husband and i read up on unassisted breech birthing and were eager and ready to do it.

however after labor for 12 hours, broken water, and labor for another nine hours with NO PROGRESSION we decided to go to the hospital.

c/s doesn't have to be the worst thing that could happen to you. or your baby. there are a lot of fear-mongers out there. yes, even on MDC. sometimes c/s IS medically necessary.

my son's cord was short and he wasn't going anywhere.

i wish you all the best. listen to your body and you can't go wrong.

ALSO TRY MOXIBUSTION. We went through with moxi quite a few times and i could FEEL him tugging downwards. I am CONVINCED that if his cord wasn't short he would have turned. Even if you have to drive an hour. Two hours. TRY IT.

i'm also happy to say that even with a prior c/s, with this pregnancy we are still avidly planning a UC.

I wouldn't flinch for an instant at a breech baby...if I didn't know ahead of time I might be surprised at my birth...but certainly wouldn't be at all frightened, ESPECIALLY if I knew ahead of time. Breech is a variation of normal...that's all.

BUT...that's MY comfort level and I wouldn't be a "hero" about it if it really weren't cool with me. If you can't get to a place of peace and comfort about this...it's not the type of thing you do to try and prove something, you know? UC is about smart, healthy, intuitive birthing...it's not smart or healthy to go ahead with it if your gut is screaming "yikes - help!" every time you think about it.

So, do your research, mull it over...your baby will probably turn so don't spend too much time visualizing a breech position...spend lots of time thinking lovely thoughts about a happy baby, turning head down! And if your bub doesn't turn for some reason...make the decision which feels right in YOUR gut...the best birth is one with the happiest mama...if you would be happier in this circumstance with someone else there who has been here before than you would be on your own...go with it.

GL and KUP!
