I wonder how many of us continue to check for updates from her almost religiously. I'm not even in this DDC but feel like I'm super invested in her progress.

Hope she's having that little boy today.

You guys are hilarious!!!!
Are you seriously stalking me??!!
I do have news, though, I was coming on to post about it actually!
Had a frazzled morning, our nanny had an emergency come up overnight, so wasn't here this morning when I had to leave for my OB appt, so at the last minute I packed up the boys (in their jammies still!) and took them with me. I got to the OB, went into the bathroom to find my mucous plug!!!
The OB desperately wanted to check my cervix, I declined. He wanted me to have a NST, but I couldn't do it with the boys there, so I left to take them home (the nanny had made it by then) and went back. I stopped at McDonald's on the way to get some caffeine so baby would be good and awake.
BOY, was he awake!!! He was moving all over the place as soon as the monitors were put on, his heartrate fluctuating beautifully. AND...I was contracting every 5-6 minutes!!!! The OB again *really* wanted to check me, keep me on the monitors longer, check me again, and in his words "probably send you over to the birth center!" but I said no to the check and no to the extra monitoring, and left
These contractions aren't painful, they're just really tight, and depending on how I'm sitting, they're uncomfortable. But I know it's not "real" labor yet. It's just more of what I've been having the last 4+ weeks!!
I think it's a little funny that the dr got all excited about it, have they not been believing me the last 4 weeks when I told them this was happening?? Although with my plug gone now, too, hopefully this really IS the start of labor
SO...I'm home, I'm waiting, and I'm in a good mood today
I hope to have a baby tonight!!! I'm bringing a laptop with me to the birth center, and they have Wifi, so I'll post as soon as I can. In fact...I need to go read the rules on posting during labor, I think there was a rule change recently about that...

Oh, something I forgot... When the dr saw how active baby was being (he REALLY liked that caffeine!!) the dr asked me "are you sure you're 41 weeks?" I guess my fundal height actually dropped from the last two weeks, too, even though baby is still floating high. So we went over my dates again...
LMP was 20 Dec, BUT, my Dec cycle was 5 days late, I expected it on the 15th.
Date of conception (and I'm positive about this) was 3 Jan.
Both of those dates give me an EDD of 25-27 Sept (depending on what calculator you use).
My 12 week quicky ultrasound (because they couldn't find a heartbeat) gave me a due date of 25 Sept.
My 20 week ultrasound gave me a due date of 21 Sept.
I got my positive home test on 18 Jan, when I was just shy of 4 weeks.
SO...yeah, I'm sure I'm 41 weeks (give or take a day or two).
He asked about my other births, they were spontaneous labors in my 38th week, large babies with no vernix or other signs of being pre-term. By all accounts, they were fully cooked babies ready to be born.
So we have no idea! This baby just really is doing his own thing, on his own timeline. But he's healthy, I'm healthy (except for some on and off crabbiness and some major impatience!!), so for now we just keep on trucking.
The dr did start to talk about next weeks' appt, on the off chance I make it to 42 weeks. He said that they really want me to schedule an induction then. I started asking about what other tests we can do instead to reassure that baby is fine, and he said "well, we won't FORCE an induction on you, but we'll definite recommend it." So that's a bridge we'll cross when/if we get there (and God, I hope we don't!!!)

oohhh, maybe you'll be one of those people who have some non-painful ctx, and then bam! a baby just walks out of your yoni
hey, it can happen! i've read about it ![]() at any rate, keep us updated ![]() |

Yes please!
My last labor was kind of somewhat similar. I had had weeks of prodromal labor or false starts or whatever you want to call it. One night I got in the bathtub at 10:30pm after having contractions for a few hours that weren't really painful. I got out of the bath at midnight because the water was getting cold, and BAM!! Hard labor! Just like that! Turns out I was 8cm already, and baby was born 2 hours later. Those two hours SUCKED, but it was only two hours

I agree with Kaylezoo - you'll SO be holding him by then
I bet you're just doing that thing when you get the pesky 0-4/5 cm out of the way before the 'real' labor starts and you'll just fly through active labor! You're a total ticking time bomb at this point.
I mean, this time I went from 4/5 to 10 in 30 minutes! THIRTY MINUTES! You're gonna blow down your 2 hour time of active labor this time

I did talk to him about how he wants me to handle things if I deliver the baby at home or on the way in. Do I just call and walk in with a baby? I want the baby examined because of the risk of Connor's syndrome being present in this baby, unfortunately because I'm GBS positive, we have to stay 48 hours
He said "well, you'd call the ambulance" and I said "but why? If everything goes okay, and there aren't any immediate problems, why can't we just clean up and head in?" He said "well, you'll need clamps and might need suction, and...don't you just want someone there?" Um, no! Not as long as it all goes smoothly!
So, I guess we'll just play that by ear.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!! I wish I could be there, although I know you'll have plenty of other company so I suppose I'll settle for all the details when you share! I'm sending positive energy your way in hopes that baby comes today!!!!

J is working tonight, so right now it looks like my birth team will be B and L. There's another L, I don't know if you know her, she posts on my facebook a lot, though, she's "one of us" and she might come, I invited her anyway.

Wow 2boyzmama! You and I could be pre-labor twins for these very active and healthy babies! Right down to the frequent BH that have become increasingly annoying as the weeks keep on passing. Mine started at 34 weeks and were so shockingly frequent they asked me to stop running, lifting, and walking(!) until 37 weeks because they were afraid I'd be pre-term
.
Even more annoying to me have been the "other labor signs" that I've had on and off for the past month that make you feel like this might finally be it, and then nope, it all goes away! Like a day when you suddenly feel you've had way too much caffeine, or, my favorite, the morning you wake up with cramps and diarrhea. I can't believe I let myself get excited by cramps and diarrhea! Have you had these little spurts too?
I'll be 42 weeks tomorrow, my homebirth deadline, and am still trying to stay positive and patient. Some days are worse than others (like yesterday). Anyway, stay strong and confident and I'll be hoping we're not exactly twins so your baby won't be as much of a procrastinator as mine

Still losing more plug (eww, it's gross! I had forgotten
) and still contracting at 5-6 minute intervals. But still nothing strong. Uncomfortable, yes, but not painful.
I managed to take a little nap, and now it's time to think about dinner. My husband brought home a bag of Doritos, and don't ask me why, but I just HAD to eat some of them
I'll probably regret that later
Oh well!
I'm trying to come up with something to do tonight to distract me a little. Maybe a trip to the pet store with the boys, if we time it right, we can help feed the baby parrots
My prediction...we'll put the boys in bed around 8pm and THEN labor will pick up for me. We'll see! If not, it's okay, I know that I'm SO CLOSE, it CAN'T be much longer!!! Tonight would be great, tomorrow would be okay, too
