Cloth: How to hide the smell?

We dry pail our cloth diapers, and do a wash every other day. They're kept inside a cloth diaper bag, which we keep inside a tall garbage can with a swing lid. For the most part, we don't notice a smell. But I decided to move the pail from the living room (where she's now decided it's a good place to drop her books in) into the bathroom, where we keep the door closed.

Needless to say a small room with a closed door doesn't leave for the nicest smell when you need to use the bathroom yourself.

Do you all have any tricks to help mask the odor? I was thinking maybe lining the lid with tea tree oil (or something similar), but I thought maybe you experts have a better idea.

Thanks in advance!

I switched from a pail to a large laundry basket and make sure that the dipes dry out completely. I wash the dipes every 4-5 days and have no problem with smell or stinkies.

wash cloth with some EO's on it (whatever you like the smell of, lavender, peppermint, etc.) TTO is antibacterial but i don't find it particularly pleasing aromatically, so i'd probably pick something else.

maybe also leave the window in the bathroom cracked open to get some air in there? or run the fan periodically to filter the air?

The bathroom doesn't have a window (my BIGGEST pet peeve of this house!!), or that would be exactly what I would do.

I really like the idea of drying them first and using a hamper. The problem with this though, is that we still have many misses and I'm not sure how I would dry so many cloths in a day... and by the time they dry, they would be ready for the wash anyway.

I found some essential oils earlier, and a burner that I forgot I had. I lit the oils for just a few minutes (just after I started this thread) and much to my surprise, the bathroom still smells lovely! Maybe I'll just do this once or so per day (when the door needs to remain closed), and see how it works.

will you come over and make it smell good here, too?
