Enough PF's for now?

I am due to give birth soon, can you tell me if I can get by on my current supply?

-one dozen newborn PF's (from Green Mountain)
-one dozen small PF's (from Green Mountain)
-one dozen Gerber PF's (size looks big to me)
-8 diaper type organic burp cloths, not true diaper, but may work (about newborn size)

I feel I should purchase another dozen PF's but is buying small size worth the investment?

Oh, and I have 6 covers (Thirsties and Proraps)

Any help would be appreciated Thanks~

I personally think you can never have too many infant size cpf. I still tri-fold them in a velcro cover for my 8 month old (20#), use them in pocket diapers, use them as doublers, use them as burp cloths, etc. I have approx 3.5 dozen. 1 dozen still leftover from DD1 who is going on 10. The rest are various brands acquired along the way with DD2 (5) and some new for DD3.

Of the ones you mentioned, I think that you will not use the NB size as much; the gerber are lower quality and too big for most NB; and the burp cloths, you should use as burp cloths.

get another 18 size "infant"

In hindsight, I wish I hadn't gotten rid of DD1's cpf's, but oh well.

Thanks so much! I will order more.

Is infant size the 'small'/yellow stitching? Wish I had ordered two dozen of those instead of the newborn dozen (but I washed them already, so no exchange).

I only have one dozen of the yellow stitch PF's, and yep, I agree the Gerber don't seem very good at all. I bought those before I began researching cloth diapers. They are also really big so I'll just use those as burp cloths.

I mentioned those other burp cloths as someone gave them to me. They are large, square, soft, organic cotton, I thought in a pinch they may work for diapers, as a flat would.

I will order more diapers, so the small do you think (?) or perhaps the next size up?

I think the yellow is the size you want. I bought Green Mountain 10 years ago, and they were green stitching. I have a few still, and they have definitely lasted! I had Gerbers, too, but they just didn't hold up nearly as well as the CPF's. Sure, you could use your burp cloths in a pinch - experiment! But you'll want to wash those a few extra times before you use them, to make sure they are as absorbent as they can be.

If you're in the mood to compare, I like Tiny Tush prefolds. http://www.tinytush.com/Chinese-Pref...ale_p_632.html

I would skip the medium size, or buy half & half, if you really want. The large size will work with a snappi later on. (like about 5-6 months, usually) Don't get anything unless it's 4x8x4. Anything lighter just isn't absorbent enough to buy, IMO.

I used Gerber diapers on both of my kids. (I also purchased before I had a clue). However, they soaked up the messes and that is what mattered. I used them with a Snappi from about 1 month old to 4-5 months old, folding over the extra length. After that they didn't soak up enough to make them worth the bother. They may not be the best, but they do work.

Definitely get more yellow edged!! I bought 3 dozen yellow edged when my second son was born and he still fits in them at 3.5 months. They are getting a little harder to snappi but we probably have another few weeks in them. They were a tad bulky when he was a newborn but that never bothered me
