42 weeks and now what?

I'm trying to hold out hope that he/she comes today. But I don't feel any different than yesterday. What do I do tomorrow? Has anyone else had this happen (or rather, not happen) to them? Can the baby be stuck in there? Am I doing something wrong?

I didn't feel any different yesterday, the only difference being my lost mucous plug in the morning. I had contractions all day long, but that wasn't new at all. So there's still hope!!

Chances are that baby just isn't done cooking for one reason or another. It's unlikely he's "stuck" or that anything is wrong. Have you been having NSTs or BPPs? That should help to reassure you and he's doing well in there

I assume your HB MW has a backup OB? Have there been any talks about what happens now? I know your care has to be transferred...will they let you stay pregnanct a while longer, or do you think they'll push an induction right away? My OB told me he'd "prefer" an induction at 42 weeks, but wouldn't force it, and we could discuss the pros/cons of inducing vs staying pregnant and the various induction methods if I made it to that point. Hopefully you still have some flexibility here.

I'm sending you all my birthing vibes!!!!!!

Yes, I've been having NSTs and ultrasounds every couple of days for the past week. What's a BPP? I have another one scheduled for Monday. I hate going up there because the technicians make me feel bad. They'll say, "Your baby is so healthy!" after looking at the graph, then step out of the room for a minute before coming bck in with a grave face to say, "You realize you're 41+5, right?what are you doing about it? What's your plan?" Duh! One minute happy healthy baby, the next I'm a bad mommy. Of course I know how far along I am. And I'm here checking out the health of my baby, that's what I'm doing about it.

I'll be talking to my MW today and tomorrow to figure out what's next. They're not pushy at all, and have been very supportive. Also, I picked a group that has permissions at a hospital, so they can still deliver my baby up there, even with an induction (as long as L&D isn't full). Thank goodness I switched to them!

Now you get some rest Momma! You'll need it before your honeymoon period is over. Before this pregnancy I was a nanny for twin toddlers and their NB brother, and let me tell you...3 is more than a handful!

I know you are frustrated, but first time mamas left alone tend to carry a lot longer. We just don't see that much because our society constantly induces for fear of lawsuits and medical malpractise. You are carrying a healthy baby so there is no need to worry or induce. A BPP measures fluid levels, watches the baby practise breathing and movement and monitors the baby's heart rate. If baby passes on all accounts then you are golden...which it sounds like you will be. I've had a billion of these in past pregnancies btw. I recommend you drink some oj or eat good right before and it will be over quickly since baby will be fueled. Also, be very hydrated because maternal dehydration...even a bit, shows up as lower fluid to baby too and has nothing to do with placental function. These tests are to show you that you, the baby, and the placenta are still working great even though you are carrying a bit longer. Tell the u/s tech to mind his or her business because you have enough stress all on your own. ((HUGS))

Much Love,
Gini

I went three weeks overdue with my first. My mw was great and though it was frustrating, I hung in there. Now I think it was one of the best things I've ever done for dd - to let her come in her time. You're doing everything right. Your body knows what to do. Hang in there! In a few weeks this time will be a distant memory.

Thank you so much! This is just what I needed to hear! I went for a hike and am feeling more confident again.

Did you or your daughter have any complications?
