Way to go, mama! I like them big. How was the second stage? No sticky shoulders or shoulder dystocia problems?

It was a lot of work getting him to come down but we had no problems with the shoulders which was our biggest fear since DS1 had shoulder dystocia. I birthed on a birthing stool so that helped open my pelvis versus pushing lying down with DS1 so I think that made the big difference.

Wow, that's awesome! I'm glad you thought to come share here. It's a personal pet peeve of mine to hear women saying that "my Dr. wants to induce early because he's afraid the baby's going to be big.....", or that they've scheduled a c/section for the same reason. Women can & do deliver their own great big babies naturally! AND, as we all know, ultrasounds can be completely misleading. I hate that OBs are out there spreading the myth that women can't deliver their "big" baby. I know there are rare cases of small pelvises, etc, but most women can do it!

My biggest was 10lb 6oz, born at home unassisted. His birth was fast & easy & I didn't tear.

Congratulations on your new chunky little man!

I was lucky to have such wonderful midwives who weren't scared to catch a big baby. They all knew he was gonna be big but down played it to not scare me. I kept telling them "I just don't want to have a 12 lb baby" joking around not really thinking that would happen. If I would gave gone to an OB I'm sure they would have pushed for a c-section.

Here is a good site about big babies: http://www.pregnancybirthandbabies.com/Big_baby.htm

Congratulations! And my OB is worried about my history of "big babies" (two over 9 pounds).
