I am writing an essay on the Hindu religion, and I am having a hard time explaining Liberation. This is what I have so far following the discussion of karma & rebirth:
Ultimately, this is what Hinduism teaches about karma. Desires produce karma, karma produces its fruit as pain or pleasure, and to reap the fruits of karma one must go from birth to birth. In this way, desires carry one through the never-ending cycle of births and deaths called samsara. (Nirvedananda, 2004)
Liberation
It is evident that desire is the driving force that keeps one in the revolving door of births and deaths. According to Swami Nirvedananda, there is no other way. “As long as we shall be seeking anything of this world or the next we shall be forced to go through this round of births and deaths.” (Nirvedananda, 2004) The endless journey can also be painful. The liberated man realizes his fundamental nature as none other than God, and therefore becomes divine in all his behavior. The Hindu scriptures...
And it's like I hit a wall. Any ideas?
