they are somewhat better than conventional mattresses because they don't have PBDEs but what they do use as a flame retardent is a mystery. if you can get one with no petrochemical foam that would be an improvement too, but i believe they all have some percentage petrofoam in their latex. i used to think they were a bit of an improvement but lately i have had many people at work telling me how unhappy they were with them....
