My mw has a backup for this reason. It's rare, but it happens. A lot of the local midwives who have separate practices will be backup for each other just in case of these situations.

Same here, in Ontario. I'd plan to call as soon as I pee on the stick.

Midwives are in high demand in my area, and it's free so there's no deposit to lose if things didn't work out (miscarriage, risk-out, don't jive, etc.).
