Weight Watchers ~ October

Thread Starter
Hi all -

I'm back on WW and would love to use ya'll as my meeting. I weigh in on Sundays but don't love the meeting... the leader does all the talking.

So real quick history on me - I did WW after both babies (now 4.5 yo and 2.5 yo) with great success. I LOVED my meeting and the amazing women that attended. They'd all been going for about 5 years. They taught me so much. But I still had 20 lbs to loose after my second child. So I tried WW again after we relocated. I tried 3 times over the past year and a half and couldn't get in the grove.

But it seems the stars have aligned for me or something. I'm completely committed to achieving my goal so I can MOVE ON! I'm gonna do this!

Last week was my first week. (I'm supposed to have my first weigh in today but may have to go tomorrow). Here are my stats -

Starting weight: 159.6
Current weight: 156 (not 'officially' yet, from my scale)
Weight lost: 3 lbs
Goal weight: 140
Age: 36
Height: 5'7"

I had a great first week. In the past the hardest part for me was finding the time/discipline to write down my points. It was such a pain and soooo time consuming to calculate pts for everything. I'd do great for one or two days.... So I tried tracking online and LOVE IT!!! It's amazing! It takes longer at first I think until you save your favorite foods but now I just drag over from my favorite list my foods! Its great! (I have my laptop in my kitchen which helps a LOT).

I really sailed through the first few days. And then on Wed I didn't eat breakfast until 10 am (usually about 7:30 am) and I was sooo hungry. I've been hungry ever since (3 days) especially at night after the kids go to sleep!!!! I was spot on with my points and then ate a bunch the past few evenings. I'm still within my points with all those 35 extra points but I don't like to use those at all in case I miscalculate or take a bite of my kids food or something.

So lesson learned - I have to keep on a much better eating schedule. That's an old pattern - to delay breakfast or lunch and then sooooo hungry the rest of the day. I'm hoping I can get back on track cuz that hunger is for the BIRDS!

Does anyone have any great 'snacks' for the evening if they get hungry? I'm going to get some microwave popcorn (processed and gross I know) cuz that's low in points and fills you up, right? I could have an apple too next time.

Today's my husbands birthday party and he asked for ice cream cake. He's an athlete so can eat what he likes. But he's going vegan. SO! I've already looked up the points - 7 pts for a slice. I may have it. I don't want to deprive myself. My only real concern is that I have a killer sweet tooth and sometimes a little makes you want more, ya know? I plan on giving any left over cake away so there's none in the house. I just don't want to open pandora's box for myself. We'll see!!!!

Okay this is an epic post! I promise not all will be so long!

Wishing everyone a great week!

~ Cari

Hi Cari,

I just joined WW a week ago. I weigh in tonight. I actually went 3 points over my flex points (using 38 flex points instead of 35!) I haven't weighed myself all week, but I have been tracking every single bite. I'll let you know how I do tonight!

The only bad thing I find on WW is that I seemed to have increased my processed food intake... I have to figure something out as far as that goes.

Good Luck to you! Hope you are doing well!

I lost 3 lbs! Yay!

Hi ladies!
WW here too =) congrats on losing!!! Tomorrow is my wi for lifetime. I'm so excited.

I noticed to the increased processed food intake. As time goes on I'm getting better at finding ways to return to eating only whole foods without losing control on points. In the beginning it was a lot easier to just grab some processed stuff that could be easily calculated by the info on the box. It's a lot to get used to, so I just thought of it as baby steps. I hate to say this on here - but I don't think I'll ever have enough points to return to drinking raw milk though!

Good luck to you jlpumkin! I've been better this week about the processed foods. I think I'm going to make a big batch of chili today. Anyone know how many points in a basic chili w/ground beef? I may have to calculate...

Trying to decide if this is the rout I want to take to lose weight. I just had a baby 12 weeks ago and am ready to start moving and eating better. I wonder if online is enough or if I need the meetings. I have done ww years ago (for two weeks) and I remember not loving the instructor! Tell me why you love this program? Is it worth the money? I do nurse and I have 60 pounds to lose, is it nursing friendly? I remember they gave me more points for nursing but will I even lose with so many points?

I really want to do ww too but it's kind of pricey. Is there anyway to get the material without signing up for the meetings? Can I go in and buy the booklet and points info?

Thanks
Amy

Got my key this weekend =)

mommaof5 & goodygumdrops - I did ww between my littles with just the materials and while nursing. I did lose weight. I can say that this time around has been a lot more enjoyable. This time instead of doing it on my own I'm going to meetings. I love the meeting topics - like just before a holiday we spend the meeting dealing with holiday eating and treats, surviving dining out, fitting in fitness. My leader issues weekly challenges too... things like fill your plate 1/2 w/veggies or fruits at every meal. I guess it's the weekly dose of motivation that I need. And the other ladies are awesome. Some have lost over 100# - now those are the people that can teach me something yk?

But the leader makes the difference. I'm lucky to live near a center so I have a lot of options. If possible I would check out a couple of meetings to find the best fit.

Tomorrow is my next weigh in, today is my last day of the week, I have no flex points left & only 6.5 points left for the day!!!!!

I guess I'm on the look-out for a low point dinner. Maybe an egg sandwich with one of those light english muffins?

I'll have to wait until tomorrow to have a big, juicy cheeseburger!
Been there erinsmama! Might be a bit late now but our dinner was low point - baked potato bar. baked potato, broccoli, ff cheese & vegetarian chili. My creation was 5 points.
That sounds delicious! I ended up using just the right amount of points by having a turkey burger w/cheese on a light english muffin & some veggies. It was so good! I think I'm going to do your potato bar sometime this week though.
I love those lite english muffins! Do you make your turkey burgers from scratch? I just haven't had the ambition lately to feed my freezer with them. But I can't find a frozen brand that smells appetizing.
Well, no, I didn't make my turkey burgers from scratch. I wish I did though-they probably would have been even better! I bought the fresh turkey pre-pattied turkey burgers from our grocery store. According to the nutritional information they are 4 points each. Sometime I will have to buy some fresh ground turkey & make my own.

I'm a lifetime member at my goal weight. I lost 70 pounds. I really love meetings and still go every week. Some people do OK on-line, but I really need the meetings. Research shows that people who have a support group are more likely to keep the weight off, too.

Check out different meetings until you find a leader you like. I adore our leader. She is a sweetheart and VERY funny. It's a great group of ladies. But every leader is different and every group is different.

Is it worth the money?
If I hadn't joined I would still be obese, struggling with my weight, feeling bad about myself, and have a high risk of breast cancer and heart disease (both of which run in my family. It's totally been worth every single penny.

If you think you can lose the weight and make peace with your body a cheaper way, then that's OK too. I tried lots of other things first and WW was my last resort.

It is nursing friendly and the points are based on what your body needs, so you will still lose weight. Lasting, healthy weight lose is caused by eating the right amount of food for you needs -- enough but not too much. Depriving yourself of what you need can cause temporary small loses, but will not allow you to change your body and your life and your relationship with food the way that eating the right amount will.

Also, when I track my food I eat healthier, so if I had done this when I was nursing I would have eaten better more consistantly.

Good luck!

Well, I just completed week 2 of WW & tracking EVERYTHING. I used every single point allowed to me (including activity) & I have lost 3 lbs a week. Last night my leader said my weight loss should be a little slower from now on. I think last time I did WW, I lost quite a bit in the beginning too & then it just naturally slowed down to 1-2 lbs a week. Did any of you ladies experience the same thing with WW?
Yeah erinsmama! Awesome job! I did find that my weightloss slowed, but I didn't let it bother me. I figure it's a lifelong journey, just taking it a week at a time.

Linda on the move - do you mind me asking how long you've been at goal? Congratulations!

My weight has fluctuated some and I had 2 meetings that I had to pay because I was more than 2 pounds above goal. I'm back to being a free lifetime member now and plan on staying that way.

Well I went to my 4th meeting (3rd week of following the plan) and I lost 1.8 lbs this week! I even ate some halloween candy, but I did count the points.

I'm trying to fit in some workout dvd's when I can. But sometimes exercise is hard to fit in!
I know nobody is reading this thread in the past week. But it makes me feel good to post my losses, so feel free to ignore this if you want, but I lost 2.2 lbs this week! I am down a total of 10.4 lbs in the last month. I' m now motivated to lose my last 10 lbs on WW.
Well, I was not looking forward to weighing in last night because I went over 11 points after using all flex points & activity points. I went anyway & found that I lost a pound! I swear that the tracking is really helping me to be concious about what I'm eating & at least I'm making healthier food choices. So my neighbor & I are both down 11 pounds! 10 more to go for me!
