Well, American obstetrics is certainly more conservative now, considering SOGC's new breech position statement!

maybe we will get lucky here in the US, and ACOG will follow suit...yeah right!

reading these responses I realize again how blessed I was... my 5th baby was discovered breech upon pushing. It was amazing how quickly the tone of the room changed but despite pressure I did refuse the cesarean and gave birth. I admit, it was dicey b/c I knew my HCP had zero breech experience ... BUT I asked him to please not cut me (I had read about very interventive episiotomies and forceps, etc) and he said he wouldn't... Everything fell into place and when I heard an OB whisper to a nurse in the back of the room to go get the piper forceps I locked eye contact with MY dr. who told me to push..and I did...and my baby girl was born in one more looooong push. That is the short version...but boy, I KNOW I dodged a bullet with that entire experience. My heart aches for all of my sisters who were not so respected in thier rights to choose
