Introducing solids to allergic baby...

I read how the AAP has said that there's no evidence suporting waiting to introduce certain foods (eggs, dairy, etc.) in kids with no allergies/family history of allergies. So, what should I do about starting solids with my baby who does have a dairy allergy? I'm sure starting solids has been discussed here before, Im just not sure if this change by the AAP changes anything. I'm still new to all this allergy stuff, so sorry if I sound really clueless (I am!).

TIA!

I haven't heard about an AAP policy change, so I'm assuming that their guidance is that non-allergic kids should still follow the AAP's recommendations for when those solids are introduced (after six months for breastfed babies; no cow's milk, no egg, no strawberries, treenuts, or peanuts until 12 months; and wait on wheat 'til 8 months IIRC). It's been awhile since I've looked so I could be off on it.

In terms of an allergic kiddo (or one with siblings who are allergic), I believe the recommendation is:
Dairy at 12 months
Egg at 24 months
Peanuts, treenuts, fish, shellfish at 36 months.

(Given as an introduction, monitored for reactions; if your little one reacted to one of these items, reintroduce per Ped/Allergist direction).

I think the change was that there's no evidence to support waiting past 6 mo for anything. If you have no family history of allergies, there's no reason to wait until 12 months for dairy or peanuts for example (execpt choking, I suppose). But, I wonder how, if at all this effects me. My lo is allergic to dairy. So, obviously I'm not going to give him dairy anytime soon. But, what I'm wondering if I should wait on other things or not.

I asked the ped at his 4mo check up today and she was less than helpful. I'm not sure she understood my question and she doesn't really think I should even bother avoiding dairy (because it would be "too hard") - I should just use the steroid cream she prescribed. So not too much help there!

All this allergy stuff is just too confusing.
