I will be returning to work soon. The plan had been a part-time job but I might be landing a full-time job at a drs office as a nurse. I would have a 45min commute with the ability to within a year work at a closer drs office. I have two children. 1 in school full time and one who is almost 4yrs old. Dh works about out of state alot so will not always beable to pick up the children. Just wondering what other parents do for childcare and what has worked for you. Last year I was in nursing school and my girls went to a daycare center and we also had a babysitter who would pick up the children on days when we were unable to make it back to town by the time the childcare closes at 5:30pm

We use a center. They are in a school, so if we're still there when DD is ready for K, they will walk her in the mornings and pick her up in the afternoon.
Right now, I drop DD off at ~8am and pick her up at 4:30pm. I found a place less than 5 minutes from my work so we spend the commute (~45 minutes because we drop DH off first) hanging out.

I just returned for work part-time (3 days per weeK) last week. I hired a nanny. I have a 2 y/o (who does not go to preschool) and a 6 y/o in first grade who is in a special language immersion program and thus has to be driven to/from school. I considered a daycare but the logistics were too complicated and it made the days too long. i also have to be at work at 730 and it would just force everyone up so early if I had to drop them at two places.

DS is in a center. I drop him off about 800 and pick him up between 5:30 and 6 (although if DH can he will always get him earlier). It used to be across the street from my job which was wonderful, but I recently switched offices so I am about 20 minutes away from there now. It's on the way to my new office so at least I am not driving out of my way. I have no idea what we will be doing once my maternity leave is up next spring. I may or may not go back to work, and I may move them to a home based daycare if I do go back.
