making my first waldorf-style doll

anyone else? It's such an amazing process. I feel like it's a baby.. lol... I have some questions for someone who wants to answer them. When you embroider the eyes... do you tie them off on the opposite side of the head? I have the book "making waldorf dolls", but there isn't the details on everything. I'm also wondering, when you stitch the shoulders, arms and head together, which should come first, second and third?

Yes, when you embroider the facial features, push the needle through the back of the head and tie it off there.

How you sew up the body depends on your pattern. For my doll, I sewed the body up to the armpits, then put the arms in the armpit area and sewed them into the body, then sewed up around the shoulders, then stuffed the neck in and sewed the head on.

thanks right now I'm redoing the face of the doll. I put in and took out the eyes so many times that I had to put new fabric over the face ... I think it should look ok now. I just didn't want huge holes all around the eyes.

I see that sometimes people have a small strip of fabric around the neck of their dolls to cover the stitches, I assume? I'm doing a variation of that now with the re-facing of this doll.

the ones i've made with a strip around te head, are not to cover the stitches - but to re-enforce the neck area as its one piece with the body, rather then a seperate piece.
