diaper cream on cloth diaper...what to do?

My son has had a pretty bad diaper rash so I've been using a disposable with creams until it clears up. The problem is that my husband put a cloth diaper on him this morning along with some diaper cream. He didn't know that you can't do that so now I just don't know what to do with the diaper that has cream on it. It is a bum genius organic AIO so its just lined with cotton. Do I need to strip this diaper? Wash it separate from my other diapers? I am pretty new to cloth diapers so I really don't know what to do.

Thanks.

Hey. I posted something really similar to yours just a couple days ago, except it was the sitter who used cream with a BG pocket. The replies I got back on here and on diaperswappers.com both indicated my best bet is to go at them with Original Dawn and a toothbrush and to wash them separately (as it's possible the oil-based cream will spead to your other dipes in a hot wash). You need to be sure to rinse the Dawn out really well before throwing them in an HE machine, if that's what you've got, and I threw my two "contaminated" diapers in with a couple towels to make up a load. HTH.

Cotton diapers do better with cream than synthetics. What kind of cream was it? It's the kinds with fish oil in them that can be hard to get out of cotton diapers. I used Balmex on dd with cloth diapers without any problem.

Yeah, my bff and I have both had good luck with using Dawn and a toothbrush!

Dawn or any grease fighting dish detergent. Toothbrush.

Scrub all the spots you see with detergent and the toothbrush.

Let them sit for 24hrs. This is a MUST.

Wash in hot with some of your regular diaper detergent. Pull out and see if there's still some stuff left. If there is, repeat process. Keep doing this until the stains are gone or almost gone.

The sitting is a must. I think it takes the detergent a while to break up all those oils. Before letting them sit, I had tried hot wash (nothing), squirting dawn in the tub (nothing), scrubbing with dawn & washing on hot (a bit, but not much).

Letting them sit did the job really well. I think I only had to do it 3 times and that was that.

thanks everyone. I got some Dawn and scrubbed it and now I'm letting it just soak. The type of cream that was used was the Nature's Baby Organics and I didn't even see where is was on the diaper so he must have used just a little. Do you think that after I rinse out the Dawn and do one wash that it would be fine to wash with other diapers?
