Detergent Math

OK, I am currently using Country Save, but this question applies to whatever detergent, I think.

So, if 1/2 scoop is enough to clean my diapers, which is the dirtiest laundry I have, why do I use a whole scoop for my normal laundry?????

Maybe there's a reason, but I can't seem to think of it at the moment. If 1/2 scoop cleans my diapers, that ought to be enough to get my clothes and towels clean, right?

You use a full scoop in your regular laundry because the package says to do this and thye wouldn't dare say that if It wasn't true ... However you can do 1/2 a scoop for your regular laundry as well

I never use the full amount of detergent. Not in the clothes, not in the dishwasher. Sometimes you have to experiement to see how low you can go, but it is worth it to not waste

I typically use less than a full amount of detergent for clothes. If I use the full amount, there are still suds in the utility sink after the final rinse (where the washer drains).
But one reason for needing less for diapers could be that we wash smaller loads of diapers than other clothes. Also for some reason, the same amount of detergent creates WAY more suds with diaper loads than it does with loads of other clothes.

I have been wondering this for years--if half the amount gets the diapers clean, why not use half the amount on clothes, too?

I always use less detergent than recommended.
