fitteds vs. prefolds

I am currently using pfs w/ 4layer terry/flannel doubler, but I am seeking more absorbency. Will fitteds give me more absorbency? Good brands?

I don't think fitteds give more absorbancy than prefolds, but I love them anyway. I think the most absorbant fitted I use is the bumgenius bamboo fitteds, although I love my thirsties fab fitteds too. The most absorbant prefolds I know of are green mountain prefolds. As far as I know, prefolds are known to be the best for absorbancy, and fitteds are known to fit a little better and be more convenient. I'm a total thirsties girl. my favorite everything is fab fitteds, duo wraps or regular thirsties covers, and fab wipes!

I love fitteds, too, but on average, they won't give you more absorbancy. Your best bet may be to invest in some good bamboo or hemp doublers. Then you can stick with the diapers you have, but you will probably get more absorbancy than with the doublers you're using now.

I like Thirsties fab fitteds, but I definately need a doubler for long periods of time. We do well with Tiny Tush organic fitteds or with Sugar Peas 2-size fitteds. Both give us pretty darn good absorbancy (probably better than a pf), but we still use a doubler for overnight.

not really I find fitted a little easier to add assorbacy to though so I liked to used fitted for naps or outtings where we might end up gong longer between changes cause I could just pop in a doubler its wee bit more work with a prefold. Nothing huge though.

Fitteds aren't necessarily more absorbent than prefolds, but I like Mother-ease and Growing Greens.

What all the PP said. And, I agree with getting some good doublers to add the absorbency you're looking for. I find hemp can't be beat. For trimness and absorbency, joeybunz are awesome

I think fitteds will be trimmer. I like Thirsties Fab Fitteds they are soft and have a pocket for adding doublers.

both will perform the same.
add some hemp doublers and you should resolve any issues.


fitted's are sweet and easy. my suggestion would be to get only natural fibered fitteds and you will reduced some of your need for stripping that comes along with the micro's
