Mama pads pattern?

hi, i'm searching for a pattern for mama pads (both larger & pantiliner sized), preferably one that you've made and used and that worked well.

also what materials did you use that worked well? i'm trying to use only materials i have on hand, i.e. flannel receiving blankets we don't need anymore and a nylon raincoat that has ripped and is unwearable but i could totally use for waterproof fabric. i also have a ton of cotton nursing pads that i don't need anymore and i'd love to be able to recycle them somehow.

i should also note that my sewing skills are on the beginner level so i'm hoping for something very easy to make.

TIA for any help!

Here is my favorite, easy to sew, easy to wear, easy to wash pads pattern:

and here is my pattern, which I don't even have time to sew anymore, lol:

I really like Sedrasmom's pattern better, though Oh, and waterproofing is not necessary, even though I thought it was a long time ago

As for materials--
flannel blankets are PERFECT. Go for about 8 layers total for overnights/heavy flo, 3-4 layers for liners.

The cotton nursing pads *could* be used, but they will probably be too tight a weave or too many layers to launder well with menstrual fluid (if you can't get them clean bc of too many layers/too tight weave, they form kind of a scab and become stinky and useless).

I'll pm ya with another excellent idea for the nursing pads!

Check out post #9: http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1143859. I think she put her pattern in the thread somewhere? If not PM her she's really nice.

thank you for the replies!

i'm going to attempt to make some as soon as I'm done with DD's halloween costume. speaking of which, do you think that felt would work well for mama pads? i am going to have some leftover from the costume, probably.

again, i appreciate the info. will let everyone know how they turned out.

The book Handmade Home also has a lovely pattern that seems quite simple and easy to follow - she uses repurposed cloth as well - check your local library.
