what am i doing wrong?

I just switched my boy from disposables to cloth last night. I'm using Tiny Tush prefolds with a Snappi and a Swaddlebees fleece cover. I changed him twice during the night and have chanfed him 3 times today and every time, he is totally soaked. I've watched tutorials on how to fold them and I prepped them exactly how all the websites say. So why are the diapers not absorbing anything? I woke up tofind a damp, freezing baby this morning. I am NOT happy.

you may need to prep a little more prefolds actually need quite afew washes to fully prep (liek around 10 to rally break them in ) your litle one may also requre a little more assorbancy especially at night.

Yeah prefolds take more washes than the instructions say to get to full absorbancy. You will probably need to add a doubler or 2 prefolds at night.

I've never used disposables but changing him every hour is about right for cloth at that age. Cloth is going to feel wetter than what you are used to, so that sounds normal as well. What fold are you using? Some folds don't work so well with some babies.

My kidlet is 13 weeks and we still go through 12+ diapers a day...

As others have already mentioned, I would venture to guess they haven't been pre-washed enough yet, and they're probably not at their full absorbency.

Is it possible that you need to change more often? Are the diapers fully saturated and heavy?

When i switched to cloth (we switched dd#1 when she was 11 months) I realized how often I *should* have been changing her when she was in sposies. With cloth you do change more often - and with prefolds (our system) you DEFINITELY change more often.
